“The universe unfolds in God, who fills it completely. Hence, there is a mystical meaning to be found in a leaf, in a mountain trail, in a dewdrop, in a poor person’s face. The ideal is... to discover God in all things.”
Pope Francis, who chose his name from that great, humble saint, Francis, in Laudato Si, 2015.
In this powerful encyclical to all the world, Laudato Si, Pope Francis calls for radical change.
In this past decade, it's become increasingly clear that life on earth is in danger. Scientists agree that our life systems are at breaking point and that we may be entering a period of ecological and climate breakdown.
But it's not too late to change course. Another world is possible! Each of us has a role to play.
R&B are grateful to Kathleen McLaughlin, below, who will talk on 23rd February about the responsibility of corporations to challenge the crisis and effect change from within.
On 1st March, we'll continue the conversation at our Chat Café, 20.00 London time.
In the company of a panel of Laudato Si Animators, who are trained to help implement that encyclical, we can share our concerns, our hopes and our ideas for our own actions.

EFFECTING CHANGE FROM WITHIN
We are deeply grateful to Kathleen McLaughlin as our guest on 23rd February to tell us about her role as Vice-President and Chief Sustainability Officer, Walmart Inc, and President of the Walmart Foundation.
Recognized in 2018 as one of the "The World's 50 Greatest Leaders" by Fortune for her work in sustainability, Kathleen McLaughlin has spent a lifetime as a practitioner of change from within. She is responsible for programs that help Walmart create opportunity through jobs and sourcing; advance the sustainability of supply chains; foster diversity, equity and inclusion; and build inclusive and resilient communities.
For example, Walmart's initiative, Project Gigaton, to remove one billion metric tons from their own and supplier-chain emissions by 2030. This is one of the largest private sector consortiums for climate action.
