Dear Friends,

Good morning! It has been another busy week in Annapolis. Below, please find a brief update about our progress this week.
LEGISLATIVE UPDATES
You can track all of my legislation here

✔️HB164, which is a cross-file with Senator Bailey, had its hearing on Tuesday. This bill expands the list of offenders who would be subject to lifetime sexual offender supervision. It is in response to incidents in St. Mary's County in which adults abused children, served short sentences, and then abused more children.
An incredibly brave mom, whose daughters were abused as children, drove up to testify this week. You can watch the hearing here.

✔️HB623: I filed my own bill to fully fund our county’s bonding authority in the amount that the St. Mary’s Board of County Commissioners originally requested. The St. Mary’s County Delegation will be filing its own bill, which separates the funding for the YMCA and adds hurdles to a project that has been in the works for almost eight years. This is the first time the BOCC has ever had these types of requirements placed on a county project it approved. Let’s be clear: the restrictions were added because two delegates don’t like this particular project. I feel strongly that the right thing to do is to support local government.

✔️HB629 expands eligibility for the Edward T. Conroy Memorial Scholarship Program to the surviving spouses of service members who die in service. We should honor the families who lose a loved one serving our country.
