MSU Honors Black History Month

It’s Black History Month across the land. The Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion has gathered a full array of programming celebrating Black History Month from across campus and beyond. Check the website all month for updates on the in-person and virtual events! All are welcome.

Appreciate the pieces of RCAH’s new artist-in-residence, Solomon Johnson, now on display in the LookOut Gallery. Stories: The Passing of Experiences and Values, showcases art inspired by the city of Detroit and his family.​​ Johnson will be in residence the week of February 20, with a closing reception for his exhibition at 6 p.m. Thursday, February 23. Always free and all are welcome!

Professor Estrella Torrez Recognized for Distinguished Community-Engaged Creative Activity

Congratulations to RCAH Associate Professor Estrella Torrez for earning the 2023 Distinguished Partnership Award for Community-Engaged Creative Activity for her work with the Lansing School District! This University-wide recognition is granted to those scholars and community partners for work that is highly engaged and positively impacts both the community and scholarship at MSU. Read more about Torrez’s work and award.

It's Free, Little, and Has Poems!

The RCAH Center for Poetry is excited to offer free poetry books from our new Little Free Poetry Library, located in the hallway in the RCAH Student Center (Snyder C220). These books are free for the taking; they are not part of our lending library. Take a book, leave a book... we just ask that any donations to it are poetry or "poetry adjacent," i.e. biographies about poets, books about writing poetry, etc.

Everyone can use someone to talk to. Counselors from Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS) are available weekly on Thursdays from 2:30-4:00 p.m. alternating weekly between in-person (Snyder C230H) and virtual appointments beginning on Thursday, September 15th virtually.
