This bill was introduced by Representative Selena Bliss and is being heard at the Arizona State Capitol on Monday, February 6th at 2 p.m.
The protection of Glassford Hill has been in the regional conversation for decades! Save the Dells has included Glassford Hill in our primary goal of a larger Granite Dells Regional Park and Preserve since our inception.
Now Representative Bliss has taken a step toward appropriate funding that will need to be matched. Arizona State Parks may not distribute this money until Yavapai County, the city of Prescott, and the town of Prescott Valley demonstrate a commitment to matching funding of $3,500.00.
“The sum of $3,500,000 is appropriated from the state. The board shall distribute $1,750,000 to the city of Prescott for the Glassford Dells regional park. The board shall distribute $1,750,000 to the town of Prescott Valley for the Glassford Dells regional park.”
The introduction of the bill takes place tomorrow, Monday, February 6 at 2 p.m.

Take full advantage of the General Plan Review Committee’s invitation to provide comments and suggestions for Plan revisions that include the protection of Glassford Hill and further expansion of the Granite Dells Regional Park and Preserve. The city has designated 2023 as the Year of Public Input for revising the General Plan. The next meeting is on Wednesday, February 22nd at 2 p.m. You can track agendas and meeting dates. After the Staff Update, there is an opportunity for public comment, and open houses are being planned. We will keep you in the know about these.
While you’re visiting our website, check out our other information such as our position on the proposed Sundog Connector, a road proposal that is in direct conflict with the Granite Dells Regional Park and Preserve, a larger wide area encompassing these lands on Glassford Hill.
Presentations and conversations may point toward building the Sundog Connector, which is in direct conflict with efforts such as this one by Representative Bliss. Therefore, members of the public have requested a study session from Prescott City Council to bring to light this discrepancy and others, and we will notify you when this is scheduled.
