Within this e-zine you will find all the latest information about funding grants, coach education & club development workshops, sports development programmes and any other information that may be of interest.

Safeguarding Workshop

Limited Spaces Remaining!

This workshop aims to raise awareness of Child Protection issues in sport and introduces participants to the Code of Ethics and Good Practice for Children’s Sport. This workshop is important for all adults involved in children’s sport, but is particularly recommended for Coaches, Leaders, Administrators and Officials. The workshop which has been adapted for online learning.

Date: Thursday 2nd March
Time: 6.30pm - 9pm
Format: Online 

This workshop is FREE to affiliated members of the ABC Sports Forum using a voucher code. For all other individuals the workshop costs £10 per person.

Financial Assistance Programme 
Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council is offering financial assistance to eligible groups in the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector for capital projects and The King's Coronation Grant for 2023/24. 
  • Large Capital Project Fund 23/24
  • Small Capital Project Fund 23/24
  • The King's Coronation Grant
Projects must not commence before the 1st April 2023.

Applications are open on Monday 13th February with each strand having differing closing dates.

Applications are encouraged from sports club providing they meet all the requirements. Should you require assistance from Sport Development with your application, this should be requested with Eimear Haddock at Eimear.Haddock@armaghbanbridgecraigavon.gov.uk at least one week before the closing deadline for that specific fund.

KFC Foundation

Funding is available for charities and grassroots community groups and associations to support young people aged 11-25 years in communities where KFC restaurants are located.

Grants of up to £2,500 to support projects that help young people by addressing their needs through early intervention, and empowering young people to fulfil their potential through the provision of safe social spaces, mentoring, work, and social skills development. 

There is a two-stage application process. Applicants must first submit a two-minute video about their organisation, along with an expression of interest form, before submitting a full application. 

The deadline to submit an expression of interest is 13 March 2023.

Winter Warm Spaces Support Grant

This year the McCarthy Stone Foundation would like to provide some support for the many small clubs and organisations across the country providing a regular warm space for older people in their community to come together, for example, lunch clubs, coffee mornings, or memory cafes. We are making £30,000 of funding available to those grassroots groups, often led by volunteers, who need a little extra help over the winter months. 

The funding will be awarded in grants of £750Applications are now open and will close at the end of February. 

Funding will be prioritised to grassroots groups with annual income less than £100,000 p.a. and less than 6 months of free reserves.

Barclays Community Football Fund

Grants are available for not-for-profit groups in the UK to help improve access to football for all by running football activities for underrepresented groups. This is only open to new groups who have not already received a grant through this fund.

Now in its second year, Barclays Bank in partnership with the Sported Foundation is offering small grants of £500 to groups that are running football activities for one or more of the following underrepresented groups: women and girls, young people with disabilities, young people from racially diverse communities, young people from the LGBTQ+ community and young people from lower socio-economic groups.

The fund is currently open until 31 December 2023. However, it may close earlier if a large volume of applications is received.

Low & No Cost Sport
During the cost of living crisis Sport NI is engaging with sports clubs, governing bodies and councils to highlight low and no cost sport opportunities available across Northern Ireland to encourage low-income families to continue to engage in sport and physical activity.

Bat & Chat

The next block of Bat & Sessions will recommence on 21st February at Banbridge LC and the 23rd February at South Lake LC. 

Bat and Chat table tennis sessions are a fun way to learn how to play table tennis and improve your skills in a friendly and relaxed environment.  All equipment is provided.

The programme is delivered in partnership with Banbridge Table Tennis Club and Craigavon Table Tennis Club.

February Half Term Holiday Multi-Sports Camps are now open for bookings. Sessions cost £4 per session and are suitable for children aged 5-11 years.

MUGA Programme

New 6 week FREE MUGA Programme

The programme starting week commencing 20 February offers a variety of sports including soccer, multi-sports, netball, volleyball and street soccer. Activities cater for those aged 7 - 17 years. 

Venues include:
