February 2023
Club Meetings: 2nd Wednesday of the month Sept - May; 7 PM at the Beehive.  A great way to get involved - all are welcome.
Well, if you did not hit the white asphalt that the Boyz put down over the Mountain, you ain’t riding!  For the snow we have, it was amazing.  It did take some preparation to make that happen and you will read about that in the Trail Master Report.  What an effort! Yes, we do need snow, but keep an eye out on our Club Reported trail conditions.  It may surprise you. Let it snow!

President's  Message

Whether you are at a club meeting, wrenching on sleds, riding together on the trail, or sharing a post ride meal together; it's the friendships that make the difference. Snowmobiling is a great way to bring people together. I spent the last week riding up in St Michel des-Saints area of QC with my oldest son - Shawn, brother in law - Jamie and good friends Tom and Paul. Even though our French was NOT tres-bien, we still seemed to make friends with other riders wherever we went. For me, it was just another reminder of how awesome snowmobiling is, providing space to connect with people and nature, while having some fun on the toys at the same time.

Lots of great info in this month's newsletter. Thank you John, and everyone who contributes and provides writeups every month to ensure this happens.

In closing, please remember we are able to enjoy this because of sacrifices our veterans made for us. Please mark your calendar and join us at the Beehive on February 25 for our Ride In for Veterans , where we will honor one of our own - Bob Campo, Sr - WWII veteran. All proceeds from the event will benefit the VFW Post # 790.

Membership

THINK SNOW! TMA sales have been slow this year but the recent snow has helped give us a boost in sales we didn’t expect.  We are active in our messaging on our Facebook page and website which maintains engagement with our members and followers.  Our virtual activity will keep us front and center when people think of snowmobiling in Central VT.   As a result, we’ve had several inquiries about how to become a SnoBees’ member.  This is good stuff!

As each season brings its own challenges, the one thing that never changes is that we are always grateful for our members, landowners and volunteers!

Please consider choosing Sno-Bees of Barre when purchasing your TMA. Follow us on Facebook:  Sno-Bees Snowmobiles Club of Barre and visit our website www.snobees.com. Share with friends and family.

Volunteer Spotlight

Member volunteerism is part of what makes SnoBees, or any club, successful. Each week during the month of the month of February and into March, we're going to highlight one of our many volunteers that work to make our club great.

Lionel Cyr has been involved in the snowmobiling community in central VT for many years. Go to our website to check out all spotlights, including Lionel's.

Trails

Again, thank you to all who helped out with clearing our trails after the wicked winds and tree blow downs. We are fortunate that with the recent cold blast we did not have the same issues! To have the trail we have over the mountain, Dave and I filled in many water ditches to make everything freeze with pine boughs.  It worked out perfectly!

With low snow, if you see a branch, hanging limbs, rocks or other debris in the trail please take a minute to remove it. Clear it to make it safe for the next rider. We are all in it together!

Remember, loud pipes are illegal. This, along with off trail riding, are the main reasons why landowners will shut a trail down.

Let’s hope we get more snow!  Thank you for riding carefully on our trails and keep the groom in place for all.

In closing, for those that are planning their estates now or in the future, please consider including Sno-Bees in the mix if you are looking to leave some of your assets for the community. Please mention this to your friends and family if they are in this process as well. If there are questions on how to do this, feel free to reach out to me. Thank you!
