Career Development / Hiring Events & Opportunities:

• PVCC is hosting a virtual Program Spotlight on the Practical Nursing program on Tuesday, February 7, 6:30 p.m.  Careers are available in a number of healthcare settings including hospitals, home healthcare, hospice and nursing homes.  Advance registration required.
• The U.S. Navy will be recruiting in the Bolick Student Center on both Tuesday, February 7 and Thursday, February 9 between 10:30-2:00 p.m. Stop by and talk with them about how they can support you while in school (and afterwards with a job). 
• The Forum Hotel (near UVA) is opening soon and is hosting an Open Interviews Hiring Event on Tuesday, February 7 (11am-2pm) and Wednesday, February 8 (4-6pm). Jefferson School African American Heritage Center, 233 4th St.  They have openings across the board in dining services (including cooking), housekeeping and guest services. • UVA's Engineering Dept. is inviting PVCC students to attend the Society of Automotive Engineers Career Panel on Wednesday, February 8 in Rodman Room #238 in Thornton Hall at 5:30 p.m. 
• Attention up-and-coming / seasoned comedians / storytellers / poets - PVCC's One Mic Stand is happening on Thursday, February 9, 7:00 p.m. Sign up to perform at the box office beginning one hour before the show. Attend to support the performers!
• Attention aspiring educators - UVA's Educators Expo on Friday, February 10, 10am-5pm is open to all students / alumni interested in learning about both careers and jobs (both summer and school year) in this industry. For the complete list of 60+ employers, visit PVCC's recruiting calendar.  Take a bus or get dropped off at UVA's Alumni Association at 211 Emmet St. South since parking is VERY limited. 
• On Saturday, February 18th, 2023, Charlottesville Police Department will hold a Hiring Blitz at Charlottesville High School from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Doors open at 9 a.m. (arrive by 9:30 at the latest). No experience required!  While they will accept walk-ins, if you wish to RSVP for this event, please send an email to joincpd@charlottesville.gov providing your full name, phone number, and address.
• The ACPS Departments of Community Engagement and Human Resources will host an Equity and Opportunities Fair on Saturday, February 18th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Burley Middle School. On-site registration will be available starting at 8:00 am on the day of the event, but participants may pre-register here to reserve a lunch and “goodie bag” for the day.
• Charlottesville City Schools is hosting a Hiring Event on Saturday, February 25, 10am-2pm at Charlottesville High School. They are hiring teachers, instructional assistants, substitutes, nutrition and custodial staff! Apply in advance of the event to get invited for an interview.
• Registration for the next GO Cook culinary training session is now open and 100% scholarships are available.
• Shenandoah National Park's 2023 Artist-in-Residence program is taking applications until Tuesday, 2/14.

• Design a Dine seeks part-time Musicians/Entertainers paying $100 (depending on experience / rate). They also posted on College Central Network (open to all to use) for a number of part-time independent contractor positions that pay ~$50/hour (rate/experience-based hourly rate): Chefs, Bartenders and Servers. You may be hired for private events or by restaurants and caterers to fill in as needed.   
• The Living Earth School!  based in Charlottesville, VA is looking for staff to join their summer camp team (Apprentices are paid $300/week; Instructors are paid $450-575/week; Coordinators ($750/week), the part-time Pack Out Trip Manager is $19-21/hour). With summer campers, they explore forests, ponds and streams as they build natural shelters, make fires without matches, and prepare wild plants for food. Meet them at UVA's Educators Expo on Friday!
• Bright Beginnings is hiring full-time preschool Teacher (up to $18/hour) for all locations: Forest Lakes, Crozet and Mill Creek (close to PVCC).  They are holding open interviews every Monday from 1-3pm. Bring two forms of ID. 
• Charlottesville City Parks & Recreation is paying $15/hour (and a $250 signing bonus) for camp counselors which requires 40 hours weekly, starting June 12th through August 11th, between the hours of 7:30am – 5:30pm (typically an 8-hour shift). They are also hiring a Camp Counselor II which starts at $16/hour and an Assistant Camp Director starting at $17/hour. 
• UVA seeks a full-time Police Services Operator paying $18/hour that has a $1000 sign-on bonus *and* $1500 after a year of service. They also posted a Security Officer opening that pays the same.
• RoseWood Village seeks a full-time evening shift Registered Medication Aide.  
• The Renaissance School seeks a part-time Math/Science Teacher. You must have a bachelor's degree for this position.

• PVCC seeks a full-time Payroll / HRIS Specialist paying $45-55,000. Note that a bachelor's degree OR the equivalent in experience is required

• Capital Electric, a distributor of electrical construction materials, is currently seeking an individual eager to start a career in the Electrical Distribution Industry as a Sales Associate at their Charlottesville, VA location.
• Froehling & Robertson seeks full-time Construction Materials Testing Field Technicians paying $17-32/hour.  
• The Rivanna Water & Sewer Authority is looking for an experienced Instrumentation Specialist to join their Maintenance team paying $54,849-91,050.

• Charlottesville City is hiring a Maintenance Specialist I responsible for mowing, fertilization, aeration, leaf removal, invasive and perimeter brush control, and snow removal.
