Hi everyone! Greetings from the FEiA team. I hope you are well rested after the holiday period and gearing up for a great 2023. Just a couple of weeks ago, the first cohort of PNG’s OneHealth Frontline FETP graduated. What an awesome start to 2023. This year is shaping up to be another action packed year of training, with an increasing focus on promoting and supporting the ongoing application of field epi knowledge and skills. We’ll be in touch with highlights through the year. Stay tuned.

Graduates from the first Frontline Cohort

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The last week of January we had the last One Health Frontline FETPNG workshop in the province of West New Britain, this last part of the training was a week dedicated to communications and field work reports on outbreak investigations ending in the graduation at the end of the week. Congratulations to our first graduates.

  • Annual monitoring meeting held with key stakeholders in the Solomon Islands Ministry of Health and Medical Services to discuss successes of Sols FETP and plan for future activities.

  • The rapid response team training program will commence its busy training schedule in February this year, starting with an after training review in Central Province. The training team aims to cover eight provinces for initiation training (stage 1 of the program) in the first half this year while progressing after-training reviews across the country (phase 2) and piloting competency-based training (phase 3) in April

  • Our paper on the development, adaptation and implementation and lessons learned of the PNG RRT training model has been published in the Western Pacific Surveillance and Response Journal. You can read it here
