With a ready smile and an unwavering wit, our February member of the month brought instant joy to the Family Life family. Patrick Burke introduced us to his bride-to-be a little over two years ago. Now his wife and the mother of their two energetic boys, Ni'Guanwnya Burke, Nae, has jumped into the ministry with both feet. As a server with Happy Hour Live, she switches between waiting tables and bartending, making the delicious, virgin drinks that everyone loves.
In addition to servanthood, Nae is in school for clinical psychology while continuing to work. Above all, we cannot help but notice the amount of joy she exudes through every facet of her life. We are ecstatic to have her, to watch her grow, and to experience the blessings God has in store for our member of the month, Ni'Guanwnya Burke!

First police report in Tyre Nichols case does not

match video of deadly beating

An initial police report filed in the hours after the Tyre Nichols traffic stop suggested he was violent and made claims that were contradicted by video later released by police. Nichols was subdued on the ground yet continuously beaten after the stop by Memphis police on January 7. He died three days later.
The initial police report said Nichols “started to fight” with officers and at one point grabbed one of their guns. But neither claim was substantiated by police videos released last week. And despite the fact that the videos don’t appear to show Nichols fighting back, the report identified Nichols as a suspect in an aggravated assault. The police report did not mention the officers punching and kicking Nichols.
One of the officers at the scene – who has since been charged with second-degree murder – was described in the report as a “victim.” The report also claimed Nichols, who was Black, was pulled over for reckless driving at a high speed – another claim that is not substantiated by video of the encounter.
“We need to make sure that we go through our police department and see where we were weak, what happened with our procedures, what happened with our oversight,” council member Jeff Warren said. “I don’t think we’ve seen the end of it. And I think we’re going to find there’s more to this as we go into the trial,” he said. “I don’t think we’re on top of this yet.”

"FLAOE Strives for Academic Excellence"

We are so proud of our FLAOE students as they continue to strive for excellence! Every week our principal, Min. Brooks, aL7. highlights our students’ academic achievements in every subject and grade level. It’s another way we are encouraging our students to put forth their best effort while celebrating them! Since the start of our Weekly Winners Program, we have seen consistent growth in all of our students’ overall academic performance. Our students are excited about school and we are elated to watch them grow.

✨Here’s a quick look at the three-way tie we had for overall GPA among 6 students! We are so proud of our scholars! 👏🏽

Evangelism for Normal People PT 3

HERE ARE FOUR REASONS WE DON’T LIKE DOING EVANGELISM:

3. We don’t know what to say.

When people share their reservations toward sharing their faith, this one comes up the most often. We just don’t have the words to communicate how we feel and what we believe. We feel like if we were to ever try and change the subject of a conversation to Jesus it would come off as contrived and super awkward. If you feel have ever felt this way, you are a normal person. Congratulations. Because of this, the statistical probability that some people genuinely like you is high.  That makes you a great candidate for learning how to process and share your faith in everyday situations. Training isn’t everything. Being normal is everything.

4. We fear what people will think of us.

This is no different than any other facet of our lives. We are always wondering what people think of us. We are self-obsessed and self-deprecating. When people encourage you, do you find it hard to look them in the eye? When people correct you, do you dwell on it and give the rest of your day to deep, personal reflection?  I love this blog from Craig Denison that communicates this feeling so much better than I ever could.

Ok, those are the four main reasons we don’t like doing evangelism. So how do normal people practically and authentically share their faith in Jesus?

New Year, New Mindset

2023 has arrived (WOO!), and along with the new year often comes a time of renewal in all areas of life. The number one catchphrase that is often heard during this time is "new year, new me". For the believer, single or otherwise, it is vitally important to adopt a Christ like mindset in addition to our newer, healthier physical selves. The timely topic of mindset shifting was the subject of one of this month's SAS sessions, held on Mondays, both via Zoom and in person.

The evening began with a table topic discussing gender roles as it relates to dating. Deas. Trunaé Green divulged that we need to have a focal point and be intentional about pursuing our relationship with God over an earthly relationship. Afterwards, she encouraged the attendants that, in order to do this, they would need to have an awareness of mind, address previous experiences, decide to do and think differently, and change the scenery. Finally, Dea-Elect Thomas Green ended the evening by bringing out the point that the enemy is a disciplined foe, and we need to be just as disciplined in our pursuit of a pure relationship with Christ. With that point, the evening concluded with an exciting outing to the Escape Room.

Discover the Joy of Reading (again).

Today’s column is a little different than the previous. If you’ve been here a while, you know that Triple R encourages readers to read in every facet.

However, today’s focus is on the person whose lost their love for reading or never found it. Yep, today is all about you. It’s time to discover the joys of reading.

Here are 5 Ways to Discover the Joy of Reading:

1. Figure out what you love to do or are passionate about and find books related to that topic. The passion and curiosity to know more about something you already take joy in will motivate you to read about it.

2. Look to learn something new. Is there a skill or hobby you’ve been wanting to try? Learn about? Develop? Pick one skill or hobby that interest you and find books about it. Use reading to motivate you in learning that new skill.

3. Use technology. With so many new innovations such as Kindle, Audible and other programs, reading can be done in a way that best fits you! Find a form that you would enjoy and try reading a book through that platform or technology.

4. Don’t force it. This simply means to devote time to reading when you are energized and in a good mood. You will get more from the experience and be more inclined to read more because of it. Trust, it makes a difference.

5. Lastly, remember reading is a gift. Reading is a gift from God and we should take advantage of it. There are many who desire to read and can’t. Let’s show God we are thankful for this gift and make a commitment to read more this year.

Did you find these tips helpful? Let us know. We love to hear from our newsletter readers. Email us your comments to trunaegreen@gmail.com. As always, happy reading!

🥳 Happy New Year from the Couples Are Partners marriage ministry! We hit the ground running from day one of 2023…literally! On January 1st, we witnessed the exchange of vows between our youngest and newest couple, Patrick and Ni’Guawnya Burke. The wedding was beautiful and elegant. It truly set a tone of excitement for the upcoming year.

Additionally, CAP Date Night kicked into full gear as the couples traveled over to Sea Salt Seafood Lounge in Atlanta. The intimate setting was perfect for the table side chat that explored the topic “What Does The Bible Say About Marriage?”

The main points included discussion on how a marriage reflects the image of God as well as the importance of a marriage bearing fruit that stands as a testimony to all who bear witness to the marriage.

The food, service, and marriage lesson were all wonderful at the Sea Salt Seafood Lounge. It was a spectacular start to a new year where Family Life has committed to Rise And Work in all areas of our lives, including our marriages. Don’t forget to follow us on social media @couplesarepartners for updates on what we are doing next!

We will see you on February 4th at 7PM at Pascal's Bistro (217 Commerce Dr #1484, Peachtree City, GA 30269).

The Birthday Blessing Ministry (BBM) of Family Life MBC serves as a way to engage each church member through small groups centered around their birth month.

Sold Out Servants (April, May, June)
Jesus Anointed Soldiers (July, August, September)
Omega Warriors (October, November, December)

All of our Birthday Blessing Ministry groups continue to do a bang up job helping all members become fully engaged in ministry life.

We appreciate you taking a few minutes to complete the ACR using the link below: https://www.research.net/r/SWABA_EZ_ACR2020

This could be a wake-up call to people who really care.

Ephesians 4:3 Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. 4 For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. 5 There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 and one God and Father, who is over all and in all and living through all.

Every person is precious in the sight of God.

There is one physical race on planet earth - the human race.

There are two spiritual races on planet earth - the redeemed race and the unredeemed race.

Blessings,
