City Commission Meeting Recap

 
The City Commission of Eudora held its regular, semimonthly meetings on Monday, January 9th, and Monday, January 23rd at City Hall.
  • Elected Tim Reazin as the Mayor of the governing body for 2023.
  • Elected Tim Bruce as the Vice Mayor of the governing body for 2023.
  • Approved Resolution 2023-02 setting aside funds for CIP projects.
  • Adopted the 2021 International Fire Code.
  • Approved the revised and updated City of Eudora Handbook.
  • Approved the Purchase and Sale Agreement between the City and Freedom Real Estate Holdings LLC.
  • Approved a proclamation declaring January 2023 as Human Trafficking Awareness Month.
  • Approved Downtown Grant Program award amounts.
  • Approved the City to enter into a contract with Raftelis to conduct city manager recruitment and hiring.

Engage Douglas County


Engage Douglas County is hosting a presentation titled "Drugs in the Age of Fentanyl," presented by Libby Davis. Davis founded a nonprofit organization in memory of her son, Cooper, who passed away at the age of 16 from fentanyl poisoning.

Eudora Friday and Fun Fellowship


Seniors, mark your calendars!

 

The next Friday and Fun Fellowship will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023 from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM at the Eudora Community Center.

 

Our speakers will be Kevin Joles, the Division Chief for EMS for Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical, and the Eudora Fire Chief, Mindy Andrasevits. Don't forget to bring your favorite snack or dessert!

Douglas County Sheriff's Office Citizen's Academy 2023

 

Applications are now open for the 2023 Douglas County Sheriff's Office Citizens Academy. The academy is a seven-week program that begins in late April, and will meet on Thursday evenings and two full Saturdays. The academy will give participants a knowledge of the duties of the Sheriff's Office, including tours and lessons.

Douglas County Emergency Management Severe Weather Preparedness


Severe weather season is just around the corner. Douglas County Emergency Management is offering an information class on "Weather 101" from 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM on Thursday, March 2nd, 2023. The class will include information about severe thunderstorm development, identification of storm features, and safety tips. The class will be held in the Flory Meeting Hall at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, and is open to the public at no cost. Additionally, March 6th through March 10th is Severe Weather Awareness Week. During this week, there will be a state-wide tornado drill on Tuesday, March 7th, 2023.
