Invite You

to plant an edible hedge tomorrow (Wednesday 1st Feb 2023)

Hi<<First Name>>

We will be finish off planting the edible hedge at Aconbury tomorrow (1st Feb) from 10am. We need all the help we can get. Please bring a spade if you have one.

This edible hedge will include oak, hazel, field maple, dog rose, hawthorn, blackthorn, dogwood and crab apple. It will be so beneficial to our community and wildlife for generations to come.

Here are some of the benefits that will help us to thrive in a flourishing environment:

  • Captures more carbon

  • Will provide a home for hundreds of our native species

  • Creates a wildlife corridor to enable animals to move from one area to another

  • Will provide much needed food for a host of our native species, including berries, nuts, fruit, blossom and leaves.

  • Captures and filters air pollution

  • Holds more water

  • Provides shade as our summers heat up

  • Visually attractive

  • More greenery increases our wellbeing

A pretty impressive list, isn’t it?

If you’re using public transport, Worcester Royal Hospital is near to where we will be planting the edible hedge at Aconbury. By car, you can park your car just off Oakland in Old Aconbury Orchard.

Call Paul on 07742 111239 if you can’t locate us at Aconbury. It’s a big site!

This project is possible due to funding provided by local councillors in Warndon Parish South Ward and also the Woodland Trust supplying the hedge saplings and additional equipment.

Oh and did I mention there’ll be tea, coffee and biscuits?
