Newletter Blurb February 2023

Ma Schlomech, AJT!

I mean that quite literally.

Just checking the pulse of your peace as we step into February. The first month of 2023 is in the rear-view and, if you are anything like me, it feels like it flew by like a bat out of hell, blowing so many of my well-meaning resolutions out of the well-intentioned water. One of the resolutions I made this year was to slow down and practice daily mindfulness so that my fast-paced professional, personal, and family lives would experience more of that blessed shalom. Yet I find myself sprinting into February, travelling, parenting, working, and pressing the gas on our latest production, and the form that shalom factors into any of it is as a parting salutation in that well-intentioned rear-view. So, this shout out to you is a well-needed shout out to myself. Shalom. If any of you made a resolution in 2023, such as getting more involved in AJT, donating, or making a pledge to our work, finally digging in and binging the Podcast archives, or reaching out to someone you made contact with at our last conference, and that resolution has gone the way of that new gym membership…shalom.

Give yourself grace AND space, and remember that it’s never too late to “revive and renew.” If a reset is in order, I pray that February is all the excuse you need to make art happen, philanthropy ensue, relationships ignite and AJT an active part of your peace.

She earned a Master’s in Dramaturgy at Villanova Theatre and a PhD in Theatre & Performance Studies at the University of Pittsburgh. AJT Regranting Program provides support for new and innovative Jewish theatre by offering grants to theatre-makers and theatres to support new work in the field that has potential to reach audiences at either established Jewish theatres or theatres committed to shepherding their work. This grant creates an open playground for artists to expand their capabilities and connect to a larger network to experience their work.

To RSVP for the event, admin@alljewishtheatre.org, with ‘Regranting Q&A’ in the subject line.
