Hello friends,
We are starting today celebrating the beginning of a new month and the beginning of Black History Month.
As a Black woman, wife, mother, educator, and business owner, I honor the contributions of those who have forged the way for me to go to school, own a business, be able to vote and so much more.
I celebrate the lives of those who were willing to stand against social injustice.
I stand up to do my part to carry the torch passed to me by using my gifts and my voice to build a better tomorrow today.
Black History is our history. It is woven into our communities, our stories, our music, our schools—our everyday lives.
Let’s make space to honor Black excellence, joy, beauty, innovation, creativity, and leadership today and every day of the year.
Not sure where to start? No problem. I got you.
Check out these four ideas for honoring Black History Month:
1. Support Black-owned businesses and creators. Visit the Buy From A Black Woman Directory to find businesses you can support (be sure to donate to BFABW too)
2. Educate yourself about Black History. Our Black Excellence planner includes Black Excellence facts to help you learn more about HBCUs and Black history.
3. Donate to nonprofits and schools that support social justice and anti-racism education like The Ferguson School.
4. Research Black History in your community. Find and visit a landmark in your city honor Black History
Be sure to support this month and every day of the year.
