Applying for Financial Aid

The Walden School's Financial Aid Program enables well-qualified students to benefit from the education at The Walden School and contribute to the community regardless of their family’s financial circumstances.  The Walden School is currently providing support for more than 30% of the student body.

To be considered for our financial aid program, families must submit an application through Financial Aid for School Tuition (FAST). FAST is an independent financial aid evaluation company (powered by Independent School Management, ISM) that will verify and make a recommendation to The Walden School Financial Aid Committee. Our Financial Aid Committee has the final determination regarding the financial aid award amount.

 Classroom Highlights -Preschool/K

Here is a child who has mastered all the letter sounds, so it's time to put the letters together and create words.  The child begins using the Movable Alphabet to write the sounds that the student hears to make up the words.

 Classroom Highlights -Elementary school

The 1st and 2nd grade classroom kicked off their Space Science unit with a study of the moon. Starting on the full Wolf Moon on January 6th, the students brought home a moon calendar chart to view and record the moon each evening. Each night the children viewed the sky with their families to observe the changing phases of the moon. They will continue this project until the next full moon on February 5th! We are also looking forward to our field trip to the Widener Observatory coming up in February for more sky viewing together as a class!
Classroom Highlights - Middle School
The Middle School Theater program wrapped up with a performance at the Media Community Center for parents and teachers, as well as our Elementary students.

Beginning in September, students took part in a weekly theater class led by Therese Walden Murphy, a parent alum and professional actor.

Throughout the show, they performed scenes from various plays which demonstrated how they feel about and react to daily experiences involving peer pressure, appearance worries, and their developing self-image. Another group explored improvisational theater by presenting several improv skit styles for the audience.

All of actors gained experience and confidence in speaking and presenting themselves to a large audience – which is an important skill that will continue to help them throughout life!

Thanks to all involved including Ms. Walden Murphy and our middle school students.
Classroom Highlights - Science

The Middle School 5/6 Science has been studying severe weather such as tornadoes, hurricanes, flash floods and droughts.  Students created tornadoes by using 2-liter bottles.  They observed what force was needed to create them and what kind of vortex they created because of the fact that they are above the equator.
The Middle School 7/8 Science students have been studying bacteria and microscopic organisms.  The students are learning how a microscope works and what the best way to observe these microorganisms.  Middle schoolers decided to make their own bacteria samples by swabbing various surfaces in the classroom and growing bacteria in petri dishes.  The students are going to observe the growth over the next week and measure it through quantifiable data and write down their qualifiable observations of the bacterial growth.
