From the Pastor
Rev. Dr. Sonja Tobey

Last Sunday we had our second week of our worship series--Fearless: The Power of a Praying Church--last Sunday.  We talked about the three types of breakthrough prayer.  Breakthrough prayer is when God’s people join together in an intentional prayer movement across all ages to simply and repeatedly pray asking God to break through in new and miraculous ways.

  • Threshold prayer is when you bring whatever it is that is on your heart to God’s doorstep so to speak and leave it there.
  • Archer’s Prayer is when you pray with a specific target in mind.  You do not pray with an outcome in mind.
  • Prevailing prayer is continuous prayer by God’s people that they may be used by God, leaving the decision to God for how God wishes to use them.

This coming Sunday, February 5th, the message in the sermon will be on the ways to approach prayer.  Join us in person at 10:45 a.m. or online with the live stream starting at 11:00 a.m.  If you missed the beginning of this series, you can watch anytime on YouTube and Facebook.

See you Sunday!

Grace and peace,

Rev. Dr. Sonja Tobey

Children's News

For Midweek, we plan to have Meatless Midweek Meal next Wednesday. Dinner is at 5:30pm. We will also have Children's Choir practice at 6:00 pm. Later, our lesson time will be about some of the Beatitudes and what they mean to us.

This Sunday,  during Sunday School and Children's Church, we will continue our Beatitude conversation. We will  make a trail mix snack and talk about how putting all the good things together to make a snack is like applying the "Be Attitudes"  to our lives.
