THE MIDTOWN CONNECTION
February 2nd, 2023

Welcome to the Midtown Community Church newsletter! Here you will find information to connect with the people and ministries at Midtown as we seek to be renewed by Jesus Christ for the purpose of drawing people into community, growing as an authentic worshipping community, and sending them out to renew and create communities locally and globally.

NEW SERMON SERIES

9:15AM  2011 Ridge Road
From our earliest memories of church as children all the way up to our experiences as adults, one of the foundational questions we wrestle with is “What does God want from us?”  Depending on the season we are in or the personal baggage we bring into that question, our answers may vary wildly.  We are told that the Gospel of Luke was written to a man for whom we know very little.  His name is Theophilus, but it literally means “friend of God”.  Luke wrote this letter for the benefit of this man that he may “have certainty concerning the things you have been taught” (Luke 1:4).  Simply put, this letter was written to give us greater certainty that in the person of Jesus, God came to answer that question once and for all.  He wants us to be known as friends of God.  Join us as we explore the person and work of Jesus and discover or rediscover what it means for us to be friends of God.

Worship with us in-person or via livestream on our YouTube Channel. Follow us on Apple Podcast! Search Midtown Community Church and subscribe.

Our Children's Ministry accommodates 9-months through 5th grade during the school year.

Communion at Midtown
Beginning this month, we will be returning to a more regular celebration of the sacrament of communion. We will serve communion 3 times/month (1st, 3rd, 4th). In order to help make this a reality, there are 2 ways you can help:

1. Communion Prep Team: These are the people who set up communion before the service.  If you would like to help with this team, please reach out to Carly Elkins, coelkins4@gmail.com.

OR

2. Communion Serving Team
Communion Servers are men and women who stand up front and distribute the communion elements to the congregation.  If you are interested in serving on this team, we will be having a 1 hour class one Sunday in February.  Please note that in order to become a communion server, you must be a communing member and at least 16 years of age.  All interested are required to attend the "communion server class" where we will talk about the theology and practice of the sacrament of communion. If you would like to attend, please contact Pastor Lindsey at lindsey@midtown-church.org
