We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of this land on which we have the privilege to live and work. The Southern Highlands is rich in its history, stories and culture, which are intertwined by tens of thousands of years of gathered knowledge and caring for the land. We will work together for a Shire that respects this land and values the contribution to our community and culture of all people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage.  We also pay respect to Elders both past and present, and acknowledge our young leaders who are the Elders of today, tomorrow and our future.

Planning a house upgrade or house retrofit?  Are you an owner occupier of a stand-alone house in Wingecarribee local government area? Are you looking to reduce your energy bills and be more comfortable at home, year-round?

If any of the above relates to you, this special edition provides an opportunity to be involved in a home energy efficiency initiative delivered by the NSW Government.
Wingecarribee Shire Council and WinZero Inc. are partners in a project with the NSW Government's Office of Energy and Climate Change (OECC) to support home energy efficiency improvements in the community.

As part of this project, we invite you to register for a free ‘Scorecard’ home energy assessment, valued at $450. The Scorecard assessment is an energy efficiency star rating system for your home (just like the star rating for your fridge!) which will provide you with a guide to how energy efficient your home is. The results will help you make decisions around how to make your home as comfortable as possible, and how you can save money on your energy bills.

To be eligible for this free pilot project, participating householders must:
  • be 18 years of age or over
  • own and occupy your stand-alone house (no strata properties)
  • be thinking about or planning an upgrade or home improvement/retrofit, even if minor, to improve home comfort and/or reduce your energy bills
  • be located in the Wingecarribee Shire Council area (Postcodes 2575 to 2579)
  • sign a Householder participation agreement and a Privacy Statement (with the Assessor at the start of the assessment)
  • be present for a home energy assessment with a qualified energy assessor. This will take around 2 hours to complete
  • complete two surveys, comprising an online 10 minute survey about your knowledge and awareness of energy efficiency upgrades for homes prior to the assessment, and a similar follow up survey a few weeks after the assessment.

Closing date for registration: Friday 10th of February
