AND NOW, A Word from Our Sponsor (Me)
It has always been my mission to support ALL doll, bear, toy & miniature events. I am "Devoted to promoting ALL doll related shows & events across the USA! Together we thrive by encouraging & educating others about dolls, their history & the enjoyment of doll collecting". I believe this is the way forward to the future of Doll Collecting.
We all know that club members are getting older and don't really want to do doll events any more.

With the C-19 restrictions that were in effect over the last few years, it was an excuse for some to end their events all together. Even though there are online selling opportunities, it is simply not the same as going to an event, meeting up with other doll people as well as seeing and holding the dolls in our hands. Now that we are attempting to bounce back, some of us have stepped up to organize new events or continue on with club events. We may not be associated with clubs per se, we are committed to providing the doll community with in person selling and buying opportunities.
There is a whole lot of work that goes into organizing these events, probably more than most people realize both months before and during the event not to mention the up front costs. Most of the time, we are aware how much our efforts are appreciated. Otherwise, we probably wouldn't do it as there really isn't that much money to be made. This leaves us pretty much doing it for the love of dolls and people we have met along the way.
That being said, I became aware of a situation that happened recently that really, really upset me. There is a fairly new promoter who has been working very hard to provide new events for the doll community over the last year and forward into 2023. She shares a goal (as with many organizers) to work together and has indeed, put on several nice events in places that over the last few years, have lost their events.
Now, I usually attempt to stay neutral but what happened here has been some of the most horrible, mean, nasty and reprehensible actions I could have never imagined from anyone much less doll people. Members of a particular organization (which will remain nameless) were calling for her to cancel her event this summer during doll week in Bellevue WA. Not only calling but threatening, bullying and harassing her AND her sellers! She even had members of her own club in on the action. What the heck! There was absolutely no reason for this. In the end, it was so bad that she chose to cancel her event.
So tell me, how does this help the doll community? If anything, it would have brought more people to the area as she had some fresh new dealers lined up. I'm sure that not all members would behave as such, but the actions of those that have acted so inappropriately, have certainly tarnished the reputation of the organization. All I have to say to those nasty people is -- shame on you! But not to worry, we will continue to carry on and I will continue to stand with her and all others who follow in our mission.
