Tomorrow is our Middle School Dance at the North Beach Club House in Narragansett.
The Cold
If you haven't checked the weather yet, this is the report for tomorrow night:
Brrrr... not necessarily an ideal night for an evening at the beach, but alas, this is the date we chose.
Our students report that they will be warm with excited energy and dazzling dance moves. :)
I've been in touch with the team from North Beach and as of right now, the dance is still on!
That being said, if they can't maintain the temperature in the building, the cold could trigger a reschedule.
I know that students are very much looking forward to this event and I hope it will happen on schedule. I just wanted to flag it for you that there may be things out of our control; it would not be cancelled, just rescheduled asap. I'll keep you posted as I continue to monitor the situation.
As of right now, I'm sharing Dance Eve messaging as if all things are a go because I hope they are!
RSVPs Please!
So far, 97 students have RSVP'd for the dance. Considering that we have 120 middle school students, that's a huge percentage!
If your child intends to come and you haven't RSVP'd yet, please do so by clicking on the link below.
There are some behavior expectations related to the dance. We want to make sure that the way our students conduct themselves makes this experience possible for years to come!
If you haven't already done so, please review the permission slip with your student, sign and return it to school on Friday.
RIDOH recommends each student test for COVID before attending the dance. All students will bring home at least 1 single test kit in their backpack.
Some students will receive boxes with 2 test kits. The 2nd test kit is to be used for other Compass students in your family, for either the middle school or lower school dance (coming up next, stay tuned for the date!).
Go Team!
Many thanks to the Compass Professionals who are choosing to spend their Friday night with our kids. It's a long event (4 hours start to finish) and we are working 3 shifts of at least 5 staff on per shift.
I remind students that it is really important that the staff as as much fun as the kids so that they're willing to chaperone the dance again! Adults don't need great music or candy, we just need great student behavior. :)
Thank you for helping to carry this message forward. We appreciate it!
Fingers crossed that it all works out and I'll see you tomorrow night when I greet your car at the beach (with my snow pants on)!
