What Ukrainians think about Ukraine’s movement towards EU membership

INFO SAPIENS LLC conducted the study сommissioned by the New Europe Center, in which the opinions of Ukrainians regarding Ukraine’s movement to the EU during the war were analyzed. The media version of the survey was published by European Pravda.

ADVOCACY VISIT OF THE NEW EUROPE CENTER TO JAPAN 

From January 12 to 18, 2023, the New Europe Center in partnership with the International Center for Ukrainian Victory (ICUV), conducted an advocacy visit to Japan, which was connected with the start of Japan’s G7 presidency.

During the visit experts met with Director General for International Cooperation, Deputy Minister for Digital Policy, talked to journalists, experts, high-ranking government officials, representatives of the ruling political party and large Japanese companies. 

ADVOCACY VISIT OF THE NEW EUROPE CENTER TO ITALY 

From January 24 to 25, 2023, the New Europe Center conducted an advocacy visit to Italy. The visit aimed to strengthen Rome's support in countering Russian aggression and present Ukraine's views on developing UkrainianItalian bilateral relations.

During the visit delegation spoke at a large public event at the leading Italian think-tank Istituto Affari Internazionali, co-organized by the New Europe Center in partnership with the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine. A recording of the event is available here.

A determined candidate: how Ukraine is implementing euro reforms for EU accession

The Research Fellow of the New Europe Center Marianna Fakhurdinova analyzed for the German think-tank Zentrum Liberale Moderne what Ukraine's 
progress towards membership is and whether Brussels shares Kyiv's ambitions in this direction.

The ice is broken: how neutral Switzerland is inclined to re-export weapons to Ukraine

The Research Fellow of the New Europe Center Marianna Fakhurdinova explained for European Pravda how after 11 months of a full-scale Russian invasion, neutral Switzerland took the first step toward allowing the re-export of its own weapons to Ukraine.

What Switzerland can do for Ukraine and how Ukraine perceives Switzerland

Research Fellow at the New Europe Center Marianna Fakhurdinova and the Senior Research Fellow of the Zurich Center for Security Studies (CSS) analyzed how Ukrainians perceive Switzerland and in which areas this country can help us more actively. Analysis was published by leading Swiss media Neue Zürcher Zeitung.

EVENTS

On January 20, 2023, the New Europe Center conducted a closed-door discussion "Candidate Check-3".

During the event, analysts of the New Europe Center, together with sectoral experts, discussed how far Ukraine has progressed in implementing the EU recommendations in almost seven months in candidacy status, whether it has made progress since the last monitoring in November, as well as in which areas there are problems with the implementation of reforms.

The New Europe Center published "Candidate Check-3" based on the discussion results.

#UKRAINE EXPERT TALK

On January 25, Berlin and Washington announced the transfer of German Leopard 2 and American Abrams tanks to Ukraine. The New Europe Center made analytical and advocacy efforts to promote and adopt this decision.

In particular, before the decision on the provision of tanks was taken, we published an expert conversation with Gustav Gressel, Senior Policy Fellow of the European Council on Foreign Relations (Berlin), which highlighted key issues related to the topic of supplying weapons to Ukraine, recommendations for its lobbying, as well as current needs and prognoses regarding further German military aid to Ukraine in the war with Russia.

The Research Fellow of the New Europe Center Marianna Fakhurdinova spoke to the NGO "Public Administration Reform" about the tempos of reforming Ukraine, sectoral evaluations of the reforms, and possible dates for the opening of accession talks with the EU.
