INTERESTED IN MISSIONS?
The Missions Committee is hosting a reception for anyone who is interested in pursuing missions, either short-term or long-term, as a follow-up to this year’s Missions Fest. We’ll meet this Sunday, February 12, 11:30-12 noon (after the service) in the downstairs lounge. Come to hear about missionary development at Wellspring and to enjoy some refreshments. A van will provide a ride back to the Wheaton College campus around 12:10 PM.

VALENTINE'S GAME & SNACK NIGHT
For those young adults navigating this season of establishing community and career, you are invited to our Valentine's Party on Saturday, February 18th, at 7 PM. LENT IS APPROACHING!
This year for Lent, we want to encourage slowing down and spending time in prayer. We will be offering a Lent Prayer Room for 40 days starting on Ash Wednesday, February 22nd. This will be a quiet, sacred space, with prayer stations to walk through individually or together as home groups or families. It is self-paced. The room will be open each day at set times and a sign up will be opened up in a few weeks.

ROCK PARENTS SAVE THE DATE!
Our 5th/6th grade children will be serving at Feed My Starving Children on Saturday morning, March 11. We will need some help with transportation and serving a continental breakfast. If interested, contact Kim.

Wellspring partners with the Albany Park Soup Kitchen in providing meals and clothing for the homeless. If you have any gently-used adult coats, boots, hats, scarfs, and gloves, please consider donating to this ministry. A donation box is in the foyer by the information desk.

International Worker Focus
Let's lift up Steve & Jen Wiggers serving with SIM in Kenya
Steve and Jen serve in Kijabe, Kenya (north-west of Nairobi) with their children Ian, Ellie, Maya, Clara, Savi and Brennan. Steve works in theological education/ministry training for pastors, chaplains, counselors, missionaries, and other Christian workers at Moffat Bible College. He teaches classes in biblical/theological studies, biblical languages, leadership, and mentors and supervises students as they serve in various ministry contexts. He also currently serves as the Spiritual Life Director at the college. Students come to train at Moffat from all over Kenya as well as other African countries.
Steve’s focus is on the discipleship and spiritual formation of men and women and equipping them to serve in the rapidly expanding African Church. The Wiggers’ desire is for the life-transforming message of the Gospel to bear upon the present-day realities in Africa as they take the Gospel to the least-reached communities.
Please praise God and pray for the following with Steve and Jen. They write:
Generally, as a family, we are doing OK.
1. Grateful to have started a new term at Moffat Bible college at the beginning of January with about 75 students. We are now coming to the mid-way point of the term, which means a small midterm break for us a family.
2. Grateful to have been able to recently connect via Zoom with the Splash Elementary and the Rock kids from Wellspring as part of this year’s mission fest.
3. Grateful also to have been able to connect and spend time recently with “Uncle” JJ (John Jackson from Wellspring) who was visiting Kenya.
4. Please pray for the ongoing drought challenges in Kenya that have carried over from last year (as I write, Moffat’s campus is almost entirely out of water). Northern Kenya, especially, has been experiencing very severe drought conditions (we have a few students from this region at the bible college).
5. Please pray for the bible college students, for safety as they travel home for the mid break, for provision for their travel costs and for those students who still need to raise additional tuition money so they can continue with the second half of the term once they return.

Sometimes we can be afraid and anxious because of the challenges that we see in the world. How do we overcome the world? Jesus said, “In this world you will have tribulation, but take heart I have overcome the world!” (John 16:33). How can we overcome like that? 1 John 5:1–5 shows us that we overcome because, born of God, we love in obedience because of our faith in Jesus
