Our Lady of the Southern Cross Parish is a safe community of love that believes in the power of the Holy Spirit to change lives and form disciples who bring people to Jesus.

As a disciple, I commit to grow by worshipping, connecting, learning, serving, giving and making disciples.

Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A

“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” MATTHEW 5:16

The generosity of being a good steward of your gifts has a positive effect on people and it is contagious! Good works encourages more good works. Generosity is a by-product of a grateful lifestyle. The more we recognize God’s gifts, the more we want to share them. Good stewards recognize that God is working through them and they don’t put themselves above the people they have been called to help.

All tiny tots and primary-aged children are invited to return to Southern Cross Kids children’s liturgy. We ask families to please register their children using this link. Children will begin in 9am Mass, receive a blessing from Fr Baiyi and then go to their lesson where they will have fun learning about Jesus in a way that is meaningful and age appropriate.

Do you want to reconnect with God and discover the Holy Spirit in a real and personal way? Do you have a friend you’d like to introduce to Jesus? Alpha is a great experience to explore life and faith in a loving, open, and fun environment. It’s not too late! We meet at 10:30am in the Hub building next to the church. Please share these Mass times with your friends and family. Everyone is welcome to receive ashes as we begin our Lenten Journey.

As we prepare for Ash Wednesday, please can you bring in your old palms from last year to this weekend’s Masses. We will have a collection point outside the church. It is tradition to use old palms to create the ashes for the next Ash Wednesday.

Every week Fr Baiyi will invite us to learn and commit to memory a biblical quote from the Sunday’s Gospel reading. This is a beautiful way to get to know the bible better and to share our faith with others.

Life is not meant to be lived alone. Come and try out a Connect Group for 5 weeks. Lenten Connect Groups start the week of Monday the 20th of February! Our Connect Group Launch Campaign is being hosted by 8 amazing people and we will be meeting weekly to explore “Triumph” Lent Program. These 8 groups will be at various times, so pick one that works for you and bring your family or friends along too. You may love belonging to a small group that does life and faith together.
