Barry Dynasty Unveils New Heir
Paul Barry and his son Daithi pose for the cameras
One of the most popular players of his generation and a member of a great Bray emmets family unveiled a new heir to the Barry dynasty this week.
Proud dad Paul and his lovely partner Ciara announced the arrival of Daithi into
this world on the last day of January, the first grandson for Dave and Susan.
We wish the family well and hope young Daithi is as good on the pitch as his dad and grandad were in their day!
John Officially Appointment county skipper
Although we mentioned it here a few weeks ago, the appointment of John Henderson jr as captain of Wicklow senior hurlers for the coming season was
made formal in the past week.
And he certainly cuts a dashing figure in the photo above released announcing his stewardship. Sam O'Dowd from Glenealy will act as Hendo's vice captain.
Weekend Off For All Stars
Due to Colaiste Raithin's gym hall being set up this weekend for Junior and
Leaving certificate mocks next week, there will be no All Stars session there this Saturday. However, we will be back raring to go on Saturday week at 11.30am.
Good Luck To Farrell Family on new venture
Bray Emmets as a club loves to see the next generations of our members and
former members get on in life and from now on these pages will highlight new
cases where individuals or families are starting up or performing well in the local
or indeed national or international economies.
Many of you will know Kieran Farrell from his years as a very well-respected teacher in Loretto Convent.
Himself and Mandy, a former basketball player and teacher, loaned us their son Conor for many years and he was an exceptional player on Pat Wogan's underage teams to minor level before he emigrated to Australia, where he has built up a big physiotherapy business.
Back at home the rest of the Farrell family, with daughters Caoimhe spearheading the drive, have set up a new business which is very sport related and could help many in the club who are recovering from injuries or older folk like myself who need to find relief for aches and pains.
With the self-explanatory name of Revive, Recovery Clinic, from saunas to massage, from hot tubs to ice baths, this new haven does everything your poor, neglected body could hope for.
Revive Recovery Clinic is a brand new sports recovery facility located in the
heart of Greystones. Opened since January 21, it hopes to bring relaxation and
top class recovery to people living in the north Wicklow area.
And the Farrell family aren’t just there for the sports nuts either. Revive is all
about making everyone, even those who are not active in sports, feel good.
How to bottle some cash for club
Just a note to point out to members that they can help our coffers in the club if
they bring bottles and cans directly to Centra Shop, Vevay Road only. The
venture runs for February and March.
How to register as a member
This is a reminder that the Bray Emmets GAA Club member registration is now open for 2023 season. If you have already registered please click the Paid in Club button at the bottom of this email.
We ask that you register as soon as possible so as to reduce the significant burden
of managing this process on club registrar and committee.
Here's looking forward to a successful and safe 2023 for us all.
Here's How We Can All Help Club Finances
Bray Emmets are again selling these tickets this year. It is very attractive
financially as all the generous prizes are supplied by Croke Park with all proceeds going to the club.
This is a very important source of funds for us and allows us to keep our membership subscription levels lower than would ordinarily be the case while
still maintaining our coaching and grounds at a very high level.
It was a very successful fundraiser in 2021 with over €11,000 brought into club coffers. Last year was somewhat lower at approximately €9,000. We are hopeful
of an improvement on last year but to do this we must have the full support of all teams.
If you want to get on easily, just go on the Bray Emmets Clubforce system which will be set-up soon. Alternatively, you can get physical tickets through your team co-ordinator over the next couple of weeks.
To meet the Croke Park deadline all tickets have to be bought and tickets must be returned to Dermot O'Brien before February 7, which is only three weeks away.
For any more information please contact any team mentor/co-ordinator or club officer or on 086-2560401.
At the Wicklow awards last week, there was good news on the double for our senior and intermediate teams.
The all conquering senior Bray Emmets team had one of its ranks, Eoin McCormack, announced as the senior club player of the year while our intermediate crew saw Brian
Nesbit, get the gong as that grade's top performer.
Another great servant to the football side over the years, Niall McGraynor, got the award
for the junior footballers for last year while Tim Harrington won the award for '21 and Mark Cullen collected the award for 2020 (The Covid Years).
Tim also won the county award for Junior B following his tremendous showing under Tony Denver last year.
Rosa Lackey is part of a great Bray Emmets family and we send her our heartiest congratulations on her making the cut for the ultra competitive Wicklow U16 ladies
football panel.
Almost 100 girls were brought in for trials and Rosa kept the Bray flag flying with a succession of fine displays. She is the only one from our club in a squad which is
We are now into our fourth week of the Bray emmets Operation Transformation walks on Monday and Friday nights and while the numbers have dropped on Monday from the initial 100 to about 30, the good news is those still with us are enthusiastically hitting targets and walking further and quicker with every passing week.
As next Monday is a bank holiday, there will be no walk on that night so why not get your weekend off to a perfect start by showing up at the Clubhouse at 6.50 on Friday night for
the walk to Shanganagh and back.
