Trip To Prior Park
Our Lego Robotics Teams were invited to Prior Park Secondary School to participate in the Computing And Performing Arts (CAPA) week. Our pupils received a presentation from the Prior Park students, who were called team Probiotics. They flew back on Sunday from the UK Lego Robotics Competition in London, explaining about the competition, along with showing their challenge presentation. All three teams then looked at the challenge code and saw the robots in action completing the challenges. To finish the afternoon the pupils made their own First Lego League medals, showing their success during the visit. A huge thank you to Prior Park for working with and inspiring our Year 6 pupils. We look forward to competing against you in the Summer Term!

Our World
The year 1 pupils have spent the last two weeks learning about hot places around the world as part of their Geography topic. We have focused our work on rainforests and deserts and the pupils have thoroughly enjoyed working across the curriculum - we have turned our corridor into a rainforest walk-through and have imagined ourselves deep in the rainforest through creative writing. The pupils have enjoyed the desert-themed tuff tray and used their printing and collage skills to create camouflaged desert animals!

Faith Diary
In this week’s Gospel, Jesus gives us three powerful images to illustrate the Christian life: salt, a shining light and a city on a hill. These images also serve as metaphors for what the Christian life should be: as Christians, we should be adding flavour to the society we live in by our witness and loving service to others. Our behaviour and way of life should help dispel a little of the darkness of the world and bring the light of Christ to those around us and our Christianity should not be hidden from the world, but be as solid and visible as a city on a hillside, ready always to attract, receive and welcome those who approach.

Can you build a Snowman?
Our Nursery 2 children have continued their winter topic this week by creating their own snowy picture and painting on ice!
They also have their own class snowman called “Mr Chips” His name came from the story of “Oliver’s vegetables”
The children are excited and interested to see how long Mr Chips will last… how quickly do you think he will melt?
Painting on ice gives children the opportunity to explore colour mixing, patterns and textures, such as the slippery, cold, wet paint. It is also a great activity, to discuss ice and the changes that happen and why. The children will be excited to see how ice changes and this excitement will encourage communication and critical thinking.
This activity is also great for developing fine motor and gross motor skills and control.
