"What do you feed your cows in the winter time?" is a question I often get and the answer is simply, hay! 5 months of winter can be kinda boring. The routine is the same, nothing is growing, it's either muddy or everything is frozen. However, with cows we can keep building soil fertility even in the winter time. Because of our limited land base, we buy in all of our hay. Every day I take a large round bale of hay out to the pasture and unrole it down a hill. The cows line up and eat thier fill. All the manure and hay that is wasted is organic matter that feeds the soil and will grow much more grass this spring. More grass means we can grow out more and higher quality beef.

Anyways, spring will soon be here so it's time to start taking orders for the spring bulk beef. If you want a quarter or half beef you can preorder bulk beef on the website. We have a 2nd batch of piglet started as well so if you missed getting in on the first bulk pork order we have some pigs that will be ready in July and you can preorder halves or whole pork on the website.

If you prefer to preorder with a check, (we prefer that too!) still place the order on the website and choose the pickup option during the checkout process. This will allow you to place the order without paying on the website and you can then mail a check in.

Bulk Beef and Bulk Pork

If you're interested in the bulk beef or pork check out the links to the farm website. There's information on pricing, weights, freezer space needed, and cuts available for bulk purchases. If you don't see it there I'm happy to answer any questions you might have.

Preorder Spring Bulk Beef Here

Spring beef will be going to the butcher in June and July after the beeves have had some time to finish on spring grass.

If you want fall beef, please hold off ordering for now. I am not taking fall beef orders just yet.

Preorder July Bulk Pork Here

The next batch of pigs will be going to the butcher in July. Details are on the website if you want to pre order a half pig.

For those of you who already ordered pork for April I will be getting in touch by the end of the month to go over your prefered cutting instrutions.

Don't forget, we have eggs! The farm fridge is fully stocked so stop by at your convenience

Onward,

Jordan Winters
