91 points Antonio Galloni, Vinous: "The 2015 Extra-Brut Cuvée 1522 is laced with hints of white flowers, mint, dried herbs and light tropical notes. There’s good depth and intensity in the fruit, but also some coarseness in the texture, which suggests variability in ripening, plus perhaps some touches of tannin from the fruit and oak fermentation, which is about 58% for this release. I would prefer to drink the 1522 at the dinner table, where some of that textural intensity will be an asset. Most of this fruit comes from estate vineyards in Aÿ, plus dollops of Pinot Noir from Mailly and Chardonnay from Verzy. Dosage is 4.5 grams per liter. Disgorged: February, 2022. (Drink between 2022-2030)”

92 points John Gilman, View From the Cellar: "The current release of Philipponnat “Royal Réserve” non-vintage Brut is from the base year of 2015 and the wine was disgorged in June of 2019 and finished with a dosage of eight grams per liter. As is customary, the cépages here is sixty-five percent pinot noir, thirty percent chardonnay and five percent pinot meunier, with around twenty-five percent of the blend made up of reserve wines from the solera system the maison has started in the last decade. The wine offers up a refined bouquet of white peach, apple, fresh-baked bread, chalky soil tones, a touch of hazelnut and a gently smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, focused and complex, with a fine core, elegant mousse, bright acids and fine length and grip on the very well-balanced finish. As I have noted for the last few years, amongst the Grandes Marques these days, Philipponnat’s non-vintage Brut is now consistently one of the finest made! (Drink between 2020-2040)”
