A Letter from Alpha Nu Omega Alumni President Jeff Gaylord

Dear Brothers,

I am excited to share with you some incredible progress we have made in 2022 and our plans for 2023.  The Active Chapter is stronger than ever and now has 15 brothers!  They plan to add more this spring to bring the numbers above 20 in the Fall!  The quality of the active chapter has increased and more leaders than ever are starting to emerge in the organization!

Our scholarships have been proven to be a very effective recruiting tool for active chapter to attract new members.  When we first announced our Funding the Future campaign in 2021, we set a goal to increase our Alpha Scholarship Fund from $85,000 in 2020 to $250,000 by the spring of 2023.  As you may know, tuition costs and other expenses continue to escalate, making it increasingly difficult for students to afford a college education. Our scholarship program is an important way that we can support our Active Chapter Brothers financially and help them succeed academically. Head to our Scholarship Programs Page to hear directly from our scholarship award recipients about the impact the scholarships have had on them.

We are excited to announce that our scholarship fund is at $219,000, thanks to the dedicated efforts of our initial donors!  However, in order to reach our goal of $250,000, we need new donors to step forward and show their support and love for Alpha Nu Omega.

I am writing today to ask for your support in our final push for the "Funding the Future" program before the Spring 2023 deadline.  Any donation, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated and will help us reach our goal.  Brothers who donate $5,000 or more will be recognized permanently on an "Order of the Blue & White Forever" plaque in UMD's Student Center and will receive an ANΩ blue blazer.

For those of you with IRAs, donations can be made directly as a Qualified Charitable Donation (QCD) without incurring a tax normally paid on a withdrawal. And for those of you over 70 (or 72 depending on your birthday) who are required to take an IRA RMD, some, or all of the RMD can be covered by a QCD without adding taxable income.  All donations are tax-deductible.

If you are not ready to commit funds currently, there is also the option to leave a legacy donation through an estate gift. To find all the easy ways and forms to donate, please visit our website at the following link: Alpha Scholarship Fund Donations

Thank you for your continued support of Alpha Nu Omega and for helping us Fund the Future!

Finally, Alumni Association dues of $50 are due in February. These can be paid through a one time or recurring payment using the methods listed on our website: Alumni Dues Payments

In Brotherhood,

Jeff Gaylord
