The South Bay Progressive Alliance (SBPA)  fuels a nationwide progressive movement by working to elect local corporate-free candidates, enact progressive policies, and gain the power to secure basic human needs for all.

Would you like to get to know us better? Participate in setting our strategy for the next couple of years.  The SBPA will hold a Strategic Planning Retreat on Saturday, January 28, from 10 - 2 at the Joyce Ellington Library, 491 E. Empire St. in San Jose.  You and your allies are invited to attend and help enhance our effectiveness with your ideas, perspectives, and talents.

The agenda includes:

  • Opening remarks

  • Breakout groups (choose 2)

    • Organizational growth/outreach to community organizations and leaders -- particularly youth, BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color), and immigrant leaders

    • What issues should we concentrate on that are vital to the community? How do we balance electoral activity and issue organizing, yet be focused enough to make a difference?

    • Election Action -  candidate recruitment and support; workshops for potential candidates from knowledgeable organizations;  election rules such as IRV and public campaign financing.

    • Changes to Steering Committee structure, meetings, and bolstering our membership and communications committees

  • Lunch provided

  • Whole group discussion of breakout reports

  • Leadership - who will be on our next Steering Committee?
