NEW CHURCHES AND OTHER NEWS!

Rev Delphin at the new church of St Augustin, Fenoarivo Parish, in December 2022
Reverend RAZANAZATOVO Delphin Thessaloniane joined the Diocese of Toliara in April last year coming from the Diocese of Fianarantsoa, where his wife, Emma Roseline, and son, Valery Giscard, still live. He asks for our prayers for his wife, who has been sick for a few months now. He is sad that he is able to send her money to pay for her medication, but can't also afford to visit her and their son.

He was ordained priest in 2014, after studying at the seminary of St John the Baptist and St Mark's Theological College in Fianarantsoa. He also studied the subject of mission at the Church Army College in Nairobi, Kenya.

He is responsible for the academic affairs of the students at St Patrick's Theological College and also their chaplain.  As well as this he is the priest of the parish of Fenoarivo.

In December, he opened a new church at St Augustin (photo at toop) and this month one at Agoroga (photos below).  Many people were baptised Christian in each location.  Thanks be to God for the growth of His Kingdom, and for Rev Delphin's faithful service!
Meanwhile in the south east of the Diocese, in Amboasary Parish, a new church was opened by Rev Antsa.  The people from Nasambola, in the commune of Sampona, had walked 4 hours each way last year to petition for the opening of a church in their village.

STUDENT DORMITORY

Last week, work started on the new dormitory block for the students at St Patrick's Theological College, with the laying of the cornerstone.  As the college intake this year grew to 50 students the extra dormitory block is much needed!

DEACON FAYE SOMERS

We are very thankful to report that Archdeacon Faye Somers has agreed to join the Friends of Toliara Leadership Team.

Faye is an Archdeacon in the Diocese of SE Florida, and serves as the deacon at the Chapel of Saint Andrew, in Boca Raton Florida. She is transitioning into her new role as a retired educator. Last year, Faye, along with some very generous friends, raised enough funds to build a school for the children of Manamby in Mahabo Parish.

PRAYERS PLEASE

Please pray for Madagascar as the cyclone season has started. Morondava is currently facing flooding and heavy rain.  Neny Fanja (wife of Ven. Lova) writes today:
The cyclone is still with us. The church is threatened by rain leaking through the roof, and flooding as the wall of our church is in poor condition. There are a lot of cracks. For the moment the water is not yet in our enclosure, but several Christians are homeless.  Please pray for us.
In many areas of the Diocese, crops are growing well as there were early rains, but these are now vulnerable to the heavy rains and winds that come with a cyclone.  Please pray for their protection.
