Make Us Visible Update
LAUNCH EVENT

Date: Saturday, March 4
Time: 4 - 5:30 p.m.
Where: Wing Luke Museum, 719 S. King Street, Seattle

The program will include a panel of speakers, student testimonials, entertainment, and activities. The event is free to attend (no museum fee or membership required), family friendly, and light refreshments will be provided.

Please join Make Us Visible Washington's official launch event to mark the beginning of a state-wide effort for the inclusion of thoughtful and comprehensive Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) history and stories in the Washington K-12 curriculum.

Make Us Visible (MUV) was founded two years ago and is a bipartisan coalition of students, parents, educators, and community members behind the passage of five bills in three states (NJ, RI and CT), to require thehttp://muvwalaunch.eventbrite.com/ inclusion of AAPI History in K-12 schools.

We are excited to launch MUV Washington, in a state with the 5th highest population share of AANHPIs in the nation, making up 11 percent of our state’s population. Our education needs to include the ground-breaking contributions AANHPIs have made to this country and our state - for all Washington students to see AANHPI role models, historical figures, writers, artists, scientists, and contemporary leaders included in the school context. For the 280,000+ AANHPI K-12 students in Washington, inclusive curriculum would ensure that they see themselves accurately represented.
