A MESSAGE FROM MR. PAYNE

Good Evening RDES Families!

We have kicked off 2023 in a big way, with students working incredibly hard and teachers continuing to bring engaging lessons into the classroom daily. We look forward to having you at RDES in the upcoming weeks for multiple exciting events! It is hard to believe we have already hit the 100th day of school and we look forward to carrying our positive momentum through the remainder of the school year.

Proud to be an Eagle,
Mr. Payne

TRANSPORTATION CHANGES
We understand that things happen and transportation changes must be made. This is just a reminder to please let us know as soon as possible when those changes will be necessary. We ask that you avoid transportation changes after 2:00pm if at all possible. Additionally, if you send in a note, please also check with your student’s teacher to make sure that it was received. The end of the day is often very hectic, and by notifying us of notification changes as soon as possible, we can ensure all 550 plus students get where they need to be on time.

THIRD GRADE PERFORMANCE
Join us Thursday, February 2nd at 6:30pm for songs, an art showcase, family craft, and snack! We look forward to seeing what our 3rd graders have been working on this year!

MATH AND LITERACY NIGHT
We hope all of our families can join us on February 9th from 6-7:30pm for Camp Rosie D! This will be a great night of fun and free food! Hot dogs & chips will be offered at no cost.

JCS KINDNESS WEEK
Kindness week is coming up February 13-17. We will have a variety of activities throughout the week for our students to celebrate kindness! You can also purchase a shirt to celebrate kindness in our schools. This shirt was created by the winners of our kindness art contest and all the proceeds go to our art programs. Please note that this order is for community members and parents. We will not ship or deliver to private addresses but pickup up will be available at JPP (located on the left side of JCTC). Watch for more information about our Kindness Week activities soon!

Click the image below to purchase one today! Open until February 3rd.

SNOW DAY/NTI INFORMATION

  1. Please check for school closing announcements on the Lexington T.V. stations. Closings are also posted on the District’s website and Facebook page.

  2. Please take a look at the Jessamine County Code of Conduct (p.22), to find the school closing protocols, like a two hour delay or early school dismissal. This includes the names of roads that may not be traveled.

  3. School closings will be determined prior to 6:00 am.

  4. A Two-Hour Delay will be called if the forecast will allow for roads to clear and students and staff to safely travel to schools.

  5. Students must complete one day of NTI work for each day we are out of school. Your child’s teacher will be available by email from 8:00am-3:00pm to answer questions.

  6. If we are out more than one day at a time, students will complete one day of work for each day missed. Remember, this is the same as homework. If it is not completed, it carries the same consequence as not doing homework.

Please remember that in order for us to receive full credit (all 10 days) for NTI, all students must complete the work from EACH NTI day. If a child doesn’t complete the work, we will give them an opportunity to complete it at school during more preferred activities (ex. recess).

NTI packets should be sent home prior to Thanksgiving Break. Please keep these booklets in a safe location.
A digital copy of each grade level's NTI booklet can be located under the RDES Families link on our school website, or by clicking THIS LINK. On NTI days, students will have the choice to complete a digital assignment (posted in Google Classroom) or a paper assignment for each subject area.

PTO UPDATES
Our next PTO meeting will be February 2nd at 3:15pm. We hope you can join us! If you have any questions, please contact PTO at rdes.pto@gmail.com.

YEARBOOKS- 2022/2023
Watch for information in the next few weeks about Yearbook sales! Yearbooks will be $20 this year. The deadline to order will be April 14th. We will be sending a flyer and Remind text when purchasing information is available.
