Pastor's Note
Well, now that January is almost over, winter decides to show up. It seems that we can't catch a break as one storm gives way to another storm. It is hard to stay ahead of all the clean up and the work they bring. Yet, this is Maine, and this is what is typical for this time of year. So we march on.
Life is just like that; it seems that things are going along well and then just like that, storm upon storm, trial after trial just keeps hitting us and we feel overwhelmed and we can barely keep up with life’s demands. But life is hard, due to sin. Because man disobeyed God this is the result. Yet God is faithful and has given us hope no matter how big the storm or how many of them we face in our lives. Even when we give into the pressure of the storm, we can still find forgiveness and healing.
It is times like these that our lives need to be rooted, or for a better term to match our analogy: anchored to the rock who does not move. We need to be firmly holding onto the One who is greater than the storms we face. Paul says, cling to what is good, and Jesus said there is only one who is good. No matter how the storm tosses us, or how many seem to be coming , wave after wave, Jesus is enough and will hold us through it all. This is what we need to teach our children; to teach the world: there is only one who can help us through it all.
We also must remember that we are not alone. We are in this together, and we hold each other up. This is the fellowship we have with one another and with the Father. This is the peace Jesus brings as He calms our hearts, and gives us rest in the struggle. So I pray as I write this note, let us hold on to Jesus to get us through. Whatever you are going through He will get you through. If you failed to hold onto Him, He still reaches out His hand and seeks to hold onto you, so reach up and grab Him and never let go. May these trying times show us and the world, Jesus is all.
