FOREVER BLACK
Black: Unstoppable & Unapologetic

With only being three days into our annual month of history and celebration, we know that every moment hasn't been happy. However, that won't stop our  recognition of Black dopeness. We're shouting out our excellence, using our unique humor as medicine, championing our ceiling breaking accomplishments, and investing in our communities. This month is a reminder to intentionally live out the wildest dreams of our ancestors, extend Black legacies, and become our best selves.

Our history contains trauma and unnecessary hardship.
We will hold space for the uncomfortable memories, impact of unconscionable acts, and the moments of being numb.

Our history contains dynamic successes and powerful truths.
We will honor the victories and hold tight to the joy.

Our history holds the key to unlocking limitless possibilities.
We will continue to build, maintain, and thrive.

After all, being Black is always something to be proud of.
PETITION TO PROTECT SURVIVORS
Senate Bill 0857/House Bill 1440 is heavy on the petty.

We believe in the right for patients to receive safe, legal abortion access and care. Unfortunately, the majority of our state legislators don't believe the same. In fact, their legislation has made it clear that they have and will continue to do everything within their power to position Tennessee as a forced birth state. Their dismissive, unpractical, and harmful laws even extend to a disregard for rape and incest survivors who become pregnant as a result of those acts.

SB 0857/HB 1440 was recently introduced for the purpose of:
  • Exempting criminalizing patients who receive an abortion during a certain gestational age, as long as the pregnancy was caused by rape or incest.

  • Requiring the physician performing the abortion to confirm that the patient reported the offense to the appropriate law enforcement agency and submitted to a forensic medical examination prior to the procedure.

  • Adding a mandatory minimum sentence of three years incarceration for filing a false report of rape or incest for the purpose of obtaining an abortion.
Let's stand with survivors and against this disrespectful legislation. Demand the removal of the law enforcement requirement!
