Dear Friends,
I am Nimród Selmeczi, a Jesse Remington High School alumni student (Candia, NH, class of '15), from Hungary. I serve as a youth pastor at a Baptist church of a small town in Hungary, called Kiskőrös. During my years in NH, I met Coastlands and joined them for a few Spiritual Emphasis Weeks - these were one of my best mission experiences! It inspired me in so many ways! I loved how simple, yet effective this idea is to mentor students by joining them in their every day life at school, and sharing the gospel with them through sharing our lives with them.
In 2020 I had an idea to try Spiritual Emphasis Week here back home, in Hungary. There are very few evangelical Christian schools in our country. I organized SEW at the "Beginning of Wisdom" Christian School in Bodrog, Hungary. This is where I grew up as a child. It was amazing to see how we could use the ideas of Coastlands over here! It was a great experience for the team and the school as well - they immediately invited us to come back. Sadly we had to miss the past two years because of Covid, but now I was able to organize a new team to the same school!
As a youth pastor, its important for me to teach my students to serve and be mission minded. I find SEWs a great way to start that! For this reason, I am taking high school students with me, as Coastlands brought me on mission when I was a high schooler. We will be doing the second ever Hungarian Spiritual Emphasis Week, with a group of 7 (+ my baby daughter) in Bodrog, Hungary, between January 30th and February 3rd. Please pray for us in this mission: so that we can share the gospel with these children, who are going through difficult mental crisis over the past few years: because of Covid and the war in Ukraine, in our neighboring country. Also please pray for our team members so that this would be a life changing ministry experience for them!
Thank you all!
