SOJOURN
STUDENTS

Month
AT - A - GLANCE

Happy Saturday, Sojourn students & families!

I pray this finds you well! In an effort to communicate more effectively, I will be sending out this month-at-a-glance email to help keep you in the loop as well as update the weekly digital newsletter in the app. My hope is that this makes our communication more consistent but also, not too much so that things gets lost in the shuffle. My hope is to always keep you in the loop as well as not bombard with constant redundant info. If you have any feedback, please let me know!

Below, you'll find important info on upcoming calendar events, current series info, as well as some ideas on how to connect with your students around the content we're teaching on Sunday nights.

As always, if you have any questions or if I can serve you in any way, please don't hesitate to reach out! Keep up the good fight and remember today, that you are the beloved of God. When Christ talks about those whom He loves and calls friends, He talks about you.

NO YOUTH ON SUPERBOWL SUNDAY!
Every student ministry is different and we've noticed over the past couple years that many of our students and families make their own plans on Superbowl Sunday. We want to be a ministry that promotes family and community connection, so rather than having a program that night, we want to encourage those family plans! Spend the night building deeper friendships and connections as you enjoy the game and good food together!
NEXT SERIES - I WONDER (FEB 19 - MAR 12)
Science and faith don’t always seem like they can coexist. But what are students supposed to do about all the things they wonder about when they look at the world around them? Do they have to choose between trusting the science they're taught or building their faith? In this series, we’ll consider how embracing intellect by exploring science and the Bible might just be one of the best ways to expand our faith.

CURRENT SERIES

ABIDE, LOVE, TESTIFY - LIVING A LIFE OF OVERFLOW
Last year we journeyed through John 15 at the start of 2022 in order to get to the heart of Jesus desires when He offers us a life with Him. We're revisiting that journey at the start of 2023 to dig in deeper and challenge ourselves to grow more into that calling, hear Jesus better, and live lives of spiritual overflow.

Week One | Jan 8

John 15:1-8

What does "abide" mean? Why is it so important? Remain with Jesus, because He remains with you.

Week Two | Jan 22

John 15:9-17

What is a friend??? Jesus calls us friend. We learn to love others by seeing how Jesus loves us.

Week Three | Jan 29

John 15:18-19, 26-27

When we abide with Jesus, loving others how He loves us, our lives tesitfy to the world around us.

Week Four | Feb 5

Proverbs 15:1

Cup - Saucer - Plate = putting everything together in sequence. An easy way to remember the 3 parts of the Christian Life: Abide - Love - Testify.

MEMORY VERSE

"I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything I have heard from my Father. You did not choose me, but I chose you."

John 15:15b-16a

CONNECTING THE FAMILY

ENGAGE IN EVERYDAY MOMENTS TOGETHER

Ideas for you and your family to abide with Jesus together daily.

Morning Time

As your teen starts their day, remind them how much you love them & what you deeply like about them. Remind them how thankful you are that God chose them to be your child.

Meal Time

At a meal this week, ask everyone: “What was a moment where you saw someone being a true friend today? How does that help you appreciate the friendship of Jesus?"

Their Time

Take time to read a scripture together. Listen together to what the Lord is inviting you both to remember about Him and His love for you. Share that with each other.

Bed Time

Pray that God will grow wisdom in both you and your teen. Pray that God will help us see where He is always with us, recognizing His daily presence.
