Walking into challenges - we need you!

Dear Friends,

You’ve known us for years. We’ve been busy in ministry. We’ve been serving in pastoral care. We’ve been doing part-time work and taking every opportunity to care, to pray, to share, and to be that difference in others’ lives. And we have been enjoying it too.

Well, now we need your help. Debbie’s hip has been degenerating these last two months, and she can barely walk. On Tuesday she will have a full hip replacement operation, and begin the process of getting the health back. We need your prayer desperately. Healing, restoration, and the pain to go away. The operation promises to help a lot with the walking and the pain.

On top of this, Debbie’s lower back is in need of surgery. Her L4 and L5 vertebrae are in the wrong place, the discs have worn out, and another surgeon is working to rebuild it and fuse it. This should help with the pain down her legs. But we have another 8 weeks until this can be done. Again, we need your prayer very much. Healing from one surgery and getting toward the second, this will be a long two months.

On the Pastoral Care front, we have been blessed with strong relationships that compel and encourage workers around the world to press on, to pursue the Lord’s call, to walk in faith and see Jesus build his church. We have calls every week, and continually see progress on five continents. We need your ongoing prayer here too. We ask to continue seeing the Lord bring fruit in the lives of our colleagues.

There’s a fourth area we need your help. Our ministry funds have been utilized to enable us to visit workers, to take 10-15 hours a week in ministry, and still meet our basic living needs. We could really use an additional $1,800 per month in support as we continue our ministry. We are each working part time to fill in the gaps, but these additional funds will allow us to continue our ministry as the Lord has been building it. And there’s a fifth front too. All Nations will be hosting a gathering in Prague in August, and several of our colleagues will be traveling there. We have been asked to go as well, to pour into these families in person, to take time in listening, in providing debriefing, and other areas that thrust the gospel forward. We have been ministering for a long time without really asking for much in financial support. But now our time has come and we need you. And our need for prayer has suddenly shown itself as greatly increased. It’s probably always been there – but now we are running out of our own resources, and asking you to pray more, to join in.
