Aloha Friends and Supporters,

Welcome to a special milestone year for Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii: 60 years of helping families defend, inspire, and empower the potential their children have to be confident, competent, and caring members of our community.

We have a long and rich history of matching and supporting thousands of children and youth. And we were only able to do it thanks to the many wonderful connections with individuals who’ve helped us continue to grow and thrive. When I became CEO in 1998, we had a total team of 11 staff with a budget of $600,000, and served 200-250 youths per year. From then until now, we’ve grown to have between 25 and 30 staffers with a budget of more than $2 million.

Over six decades, many people have helped us accomplish our service to the community: Volunteers, staffers, board members, interns, and donors. We cherish and want to re-engage with you. So, our 60th year theme is:

Pilikana - the bond between souls whether life partners, siblings, parents-and-children, or any other deep bond among loved ones.

Our goal is to connect with as many of the thousands of people who have had even the smallest relationship with Big Brothers Big Sisters at some point over the past six decades. In the spirit of Pilikana, we plan to organize events and activities to reacquaint ourselves with each other and rekindle relationships from years past. We know that this will help us take Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii to a future of new and exciting possibilities!

Please join us by letting us know your interest and by responding when we reach out to you. Please also share this movement with others who you know that played some big, or small, role in our history. Together, we can grow a more vibrant and sustainable organization for the next 60 years and beyond!

Wishing you peace and great connections,

Another super fun tubing match outing! We floated down the open canals and through five amazing tunnels and flumes.  Mahalo to  Kaua'i Backcountry Adventures for hosting our matches and staff.
MAUI

Our matches have been kicking off the new year in fun and creative ways. Pictured is Mentor Steve and Youth Kamuela building Kamuela’s first birdhouse. It only took this match about 6+ hours to complete but who’s counting when you’re having this much fun! Many more projects to come this 2023 year!

Shine your car for a brighter future! Get your car washed on Saturday, March 4th at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Maui.  All proceeds will support our 2023 Charity Walk Team.  Contact Courtney at (808)638-1703 for tickets or sign up to volunteer that day here.

Low score, BIG impact.

In conjunction with our organization’s 60th anniversary, we are so excited for the inaugural 2023  Golf Fore Kids' Sake Tournament!  Hitting the green with us on April 28th means you support our island keiki with important one-to-one mentoring relationships. With every putt, you are making  a better Hawai'i for a keiki.

Please celebrate our 60th anniversary with us!  Mahalo!

See more than a need. See our keiki's future that lies ahead.
