Fitness Challenge - 30/30
How did it go? If you joined in on the challenge and you did most days for a minimum of 30 days aaand you did not miss more than 1 consecutive days.... come get your gift! The coveted Forever Fit mug : )
This Challenge was meant to give you a kick start on your fitness habits. The lifestyle that is in line with your goals and your identity.


Habits
Last month I recommended the book Atomic Habits. If you have not ready it, I hope you will. It may affect your life in ways you never expected. How are your new habits going?  Were you able to avoid some of your bad habits by implementing new better habits that are more in line with your goals and identity? Here is what I've been up to;

Goals;
  1. Maintain Body weight
  2. Manage/Maintain cardio stamina
  3. Walk daily
  4. Drink less Alcohol
Identity;
  • I am fit and slim.
  • I am a social drinker 
Habits;
  • Walk to town for errands
  • Take advantage of short bouts of time during the day to walk
  • Walk for over an hour at least once/week.
  • Only drink alcohol on weekends Or when socializing with friends/family and alcohol is being served.
  • Put alcohol out of sight
  • Drink water at the end of my work day
  • Drink Kombucha in the evenings instead of ... Vodka : )

Nordic Walking Clinic
Saturdays, February 18 & 25
11am - 12:30pm
Nordic Walking is NOT Pole Trekking ... Nordic Walking is a fitness activity. It is the dry land version of Nordic Skiing. It is more advantageous than walking or pole trekking because we use 30% more muscles in each step therefore we burn more calories, burn more fat and increase muscle mass more than with regular walking. Firm up your curvy bits and back of arms. Improve your balance and increase your cardio intensity as you walk. Nordic walking makes going up hills much easier because we are using more muscles. More muscles... more benni's :) 

Once you have the technique it is relatively easy, you can go at your own pace and you can use them on soft or firm surface. They are telescopic so you can pack them up for camping and traveling, then would fit in carry on baggage for sure.


Technically, it may not be spring but, it sure feels like it. It's time to break out the Nordic walking poles and get moving :) Message me to register.

Book Recommendation

I just started this book. OMG! Our breath and how we breathe hugely impacts our whole body including sleep, organ function, stress, hormone levels, the contour of our face, how our teeth grow.... so interesting. Are you a mouth breather? If so, you really must read this book, for the health of it. It'a also available on audio.

According to author James Nestor, "Modern research is showing us that making even slight adjustments to the way we inhale and exhale can jump-start athletic performance, rejuvenate internal organs, halt snoring, allergies, asthma, and autoimmune disease, and even straighten scoliotic spines. None of this should be possible, and yet it is."
