Dear Friend,

This year, we are spurred to achieve greater impact. In 2023 our programs aim to promote values and initiatives which drive institutional, behavioural and systemic change in our society. One key way we achieve this is through active citizen engagement in governance processes.

PPDC Has a New Project On Board: The Court Administration and Case Management Project

We received a federal award from the United States Department of State to implement a Case Management and Court Administration (CACM) Project across three states in Nigeria; Nasarawa, Plateau and Kaduna.

The project is being implemented by PPDC through a Cooperative Agreement with the International Bureau for Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL). The project will address the issues of poor case management, scheduling and weak coordination between criminal justice agencies, inefficient evidence management, and poor court systems that continue to delay criminal processes.

The power of Citizens' Engagement: A Case Study of the Buzunkure Community

Access to potable water is a challenge that many rural communities face in Nigeria and this was no different for the indigenes of the Buzunkure community in Kuje LGA in the FCT. In 2021, PPDC with support from VOICE sought to address this challenge with our ongoing project Promoting Inclusive Governance through Civic Engagement (PIGCE). We launched a series of advocacy which yielded results in December 2021.

Nigeria Decides 2023: A pledge to deliver

Nigeria's 6th democratic election is fast approaching and the need for more active citizen voices in this process is invaluable.  Citizens have the opportunity to engage with and secure the commitment of political aspirants vying for various positions to deliver services needed to develop their communities and empower them.

Here is a look at our #Vote4WASH campaign in Niger State where we sensitized the citizens of Lanle community on demanding quality services especially as it relates to water and sanitation when political aspirants come to campaign for votes.

This campaign achieved great impact because we got political aspirants to pledge their commitment to delivering services to the communities and also held them accountable to fulfil them after they had been elected.

This
documentary tells this story.

Budeshi Radio for Citizens

Budeshi Radio gives citizens a platform to discuss issues around good governance, accountability, and quality service delivery. On this episode, we had a very insightful conversation centred on the projects monitored by our community-based monitors in Kwali and AMAC area councils of the FCT, To listen, click here
