A message from the Pastor...

What a game! Like most of Kansas City, I was riveted to the TV for the Chiefs win Sunday evening. After it was over, I was more amazed than while I was watching it. The quarterback always gets the glory – and Mahomes wears it well. But Mahomes would be the first one to tell you that the Chiefs’ success was not all about him. Backup wide receivers were called on to make big plays after the starters were injured. Harrison Butker kicked a game-winning field goal to shake off inconsistency earlier in the season. That kick was only possible because of a great punt return by Skyy Moore, who had been benched a few weeks earlier because of his fumbles. The biggest defensive play of the game was made by Chris Jones – who had maybe his worst game of the season the last time the Chiefs played the Bengals. All of these people contributed to the Chiefs victory over the team that kept them from the Super Bowl last year.

I love redemption stories, and this game was full of them. God has a redemption story for you. If you have felt not good enough, less-than, left behind, or in need of a second (or twenty-second) chance, remember that God sent us Jesus not to condemn, but to save (John 3:17). You don’t have to be an all-star to be good enough to matter. You just have to be “on the team.” And you are, because you are a child of God.

Please join us in person or online Sunday at 8:45 and 10:30 am.

Peace,

Lenten Study
The son of a Christian pastor, Vincent van Gogh devoted his life to light — making him a perfect companion on this pilgrimage of “lengthening light” (that’s how “Lent” gets its name!). Join Pastor Nancy for this study, where the words of Scripture and the paintings and letters of Van Gogh will be our guides, pointing toward simple, powerful practices you can try each week. We will meet Sundays, March 12-April 2, at 9:45 am. Click here to download the devotional and here for the painting image links.
