Hello <<First Name>>,

Do you still have some new year's resolutions? Or is your resolution like mine and not to have any? Having said that, I do have some aspirations. Here are three:
  1. To be curious, rather than judgemental.
  2. To engage in the process of painting with the freedom to explore
  3. To rethink the 'rules' and to paint in playful, non-restricting ways
How about you? Do you have aspirations for your creative life? I would love to hear what they are.

Getting Creative with a Colour Challenge
To get into the creative mode, I painted three 5 x 7 studies of the same tree scene shown below. I was curious to see how each painting would look with a different colour dominance.
Painting #1
Painting #2
Painting #3
Colour challenge continued:

Then, during art mentoring, we had  the colour challenge of answering What are the three main aspects of a colour and...

We also chose which painting of the three was:
  • The brightest
  • The dullest
  • The coolest
  • Which colour family was used for the ground on each
  • Which colour besides yellow was common to each
  • Which of the three main aspects of a colour are common to each
  • Which was our favourite and least favourite and why (and why it helps to know)
Lastly, we identified the primary and secondary designs in addition to discussing the importance of having dominance of each of the three aspects of colour within our paintings.

Curious if you chose correctly? Feel free to send me an email for the answers.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Mirja
