Parent Resources - Maintaining Relationships

Keeping friendships strong and growing is a crucial social skill. In this lesson, students will learn ways to improve the quality of their relationships through communication, compromise, and caring (the three Cs). These skills can apply to friendships, family relationships, and future romantic partnerships, and will serve them as they grow, expand, and deepen their social relationships.

To strengthen this lesson, try this activity with your student at home:
When there is tension between you and your student, or between your student and another family member, remind them (and yourself) of the 3 Cs and work to choose at least one “C” to engage in that moment.

Science Olympiad Update

Students and Coaches, keep up the great work. T-shirt designs are due to Mr. Burke or Mr. Vance by Tuesday, February 14.

Current COVID-19 Guidance

If your child tests positive for COVID-19, 5 days of isolation is recommended. Individuals may return any time during days 6-10 if their symptoms are largely resolved and fever-free without the use of medication. It is also recommended that a mask be worn on days 6-10. Each school is required to report all communicable diseases to the Kent County Health Department (KCHD). If your child tests positive for COVID-19, please notify your building administrator. Thank you for helping keep everyone safe!

Students are issued “Way to Go” cards for demonstrating Respect, Responsibility or Personal Best by doing the right thing!  As students receive these cards, they are placed in the container located in the Main Office. Every Friday, names are drawn and announced during the afternoon announcements.  Each student selected, has the opportunity to pick a prize from the prize basket simply as a way to say “Thanks, we appreciate and recognize you!”

Our winner for this week is:
Shyla Stewart-McDuel, 8th Grade

Lost Items
Please encourage your student to visit the lost and found located near the entrance to the cafeteria.  Unclaimed items will be donated at the end of the second trimester.

Do you love your children’s teachers or other staff members and want to reward them in a meaningful way this Valentine’s Day? Consider giving them STAR Awards from the Foundation.

STAR Awards honor outstanding teachers and staff members for going above and beyond for our students. For a donation of $25 or more to the Foundation, we’ll produce a STAR Award for your favorite teacher or staff member and either present it to them or give it to you to present it yourself. Best of all, your donation will go toward funding enhancement grants that offer our kids educational opportunities that are second to none. To honor a teacher or staff member quickly and easily, visit the STAR awards page on our website. You can also nominate teachers for the Foundation’s annual Excellence in Teaching Awards. Nominations are due by May 1.
