Welcome to our March letter.
We are praying for parishes and communities during Lent, Holy week and Easter. Although you will be planning for this season, we wanted to assist you in preparing for a busy May 2023! During that month, there is King Charles’ III coronation and it will be a great opportunity for churches to both open their doors and also go out into their communities.
Here at the Mission Team we are happy to support this and other initiatives by providing micro-grants of up to £300 to purchase resources for your church. Please email mission@southwark.anglican.org
for an application form.

New Resources to Help Tackle the Cost of Living Crisis
|
|
A significant number of individuals and families are struggling to keep heads above the water. The Covid-19 pandemic highlighted and worsened issues people were already struggling with. This has been further compounded by the cost of living crisis.
It is likely that as churches you are seeing more people asking for help and information. Hence, the team at the Diocese of Southwark and Together Southwark has put together two resource packs to assist churches in supporting people. To download the packs, please visit https://bit.ly/togethersouthwark.
Hard copies of these resources have been sent to all parishes in the Diocese.

UK Youth Fund - Cost of Living Fund
UK Youth Fund in partnership with Pears Foundation launched a new grant programme on 2nd February.
This new fund, the Cost of living grant programme, is a three-year unrestricted grant programme aimed at mitigating the devastating impact of the cost of living crisis on the youth sector. The UK Youth Fund in partnership with Pears Foundation will provide targeted funding to youth organisations delivering high quality youthwork to ensure doors stay open, bills get paid and youth workers receive their salaries, to ensure young people continue to be supported.
The grant programme is open to youth organisations based in the UK, with an annual turnover of £500,000 or less. The programme will offer grants of approximately 10% of current turnover of applicant organisations to reflect the current rate of inflation.
The application website window will remain open whilst funds remain to be distributed.
Throughout the application window, UK Youth Fund and Pears Foundation will be hosting weekly open webinars over zoom, where their grant team will talk through the application form, provide guidance on how to make a strong application, and host a Q&A. To find out more, please visit https://www.ukyouth.org/ukyouthfundpears/.

|
|
Also in May is Pentecost and ‘Thy Kingdom Come’. We will be providing resources again to serve the churches and reach their communities. Again, we will focus upon how we can serve our communities in word and action as well as praying for people to the ‘King of Kings’. There may be ways in which your communities can link Thy Kingdom Come and other outdoor events in May 2023. Do be in touch with us if we can help with grant funding for mission by emailing: mission@southwark.anglican.org
