Praise 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
Introit - “Until These Tears Are Gone"
Flood this heart with assurance of Your mercy.
Fill this mind with knowledge of Your love
Hold me fast through the deep and steady current
How long, how long 'till these tears are gone?
Every hour, awake me to Your presence
Shine Your light, brighter than the dawn
Send Your joy, illuminate the darkness
How long, how long 'till these tears are gone?
How long, how long 'till these tears are gone?
I'll fix my eyes on eternity above where every lie, is uncovered by Your love.
I'll fix my eyes on eternity above where every lie,
Every shadow is uncovered by Your love.
Lord, You hear the pleading of the faithful, I search for You,
Hide not Your face, here I tread, a shell among the ruins
How long, how long 'till these tears are gone?
How long, how long 'till these tears are gone?

Pastor and Congregation: Come and worship, all you who fear God!
‡The Hymn No. 498 – “Jesus! What a Friend for Sinners!”
Jesus! what a Friend for sinners! Jesus! lover of my soul;
Friends may fail me, foes assail me, He, my Savior, makes me whole.
Refrain Hallelujah! what a Savior! Halleluiah! what a Friend!
Saving, helping, keeping, loving, He is with me to the end.
Jesus! what a help in sorrow! While the billows o’er me roll,
Even when my heart is breaking, He, my comfort, helps my soul. (Refrain)
Jesus! what a guide and keeper! While the tempest still is high,
Storms about me, night o’er-takes me, He, my pilot, hears my cry. (Refrain)
Jesus! I do now receive Him, more than all in Him I find;
He hath granted me forgiveness, I am His, and He is mine. (Refrain)
‡The Prayer of Invocation
The Old Testament Reading Genesis 2:1-3; Exodus 20:8-11 --- Neil Pillow
Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. 2 And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. 3 So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation.
Exodus 20:8-11 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore, the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
‡The Hymn – “God of My Life to Thee I Call”
God of my life, to Thee I call, afflicted at Thy feet I fall.
When the great water floods prevail, leave not my trembling heart to fail.
Chorus Poor though I am, despised, forgot, yet God, my God, forgets me not.
And He is safe and must succeed for whom the Lord is sure to plead.
Friend of the friendless and the saint, where should I lodge my deep complaint?
Where but with Thee whose open door invites the helpless and the poor? (Chorus)
That were a grief I could not bear, didst Thou not hear and answer prayer.
But a prayer hearing, answering God supports me under every load. (Chorus)
The New Testament Reading and Congregational Prayer: Luke 6:1-11 --- Gary Dyksterhouse
On a Sabbath, while he was going through the grainfields, his disciples plucked and ate some heads of grain, rubbing them in their hands. 2 But some of the Pharisees said, “Why are you doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath?” 3 And Jesus answered them, “Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him: 4 how he entered the house of God and took and ate the bread of the Presence, which is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and also gave it to those with him?” 5 And he said to them, “The Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath.” 6 On another Sabbath, he entered the synagogue and was teaching, and a man was there whose right hand was withered. 7 And the scribes and the Pharisees watched him, to see whether he would heal on the Sabbath, so that they might find a reason to accuse him. 8 But he knew their thoughts, and he said to the man with the withered hand, “Come and stand here.” And he rose and stood there. 9 And Jesus said to them, “I ask you, is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to destroy it?” 10 And after looking around at them all he said to him, “Stretch out your hand.” And he did so, and his hand was restored. 11 But they were filled with fury and discussed with one another what they might do to Jesus.
Confession of Faith (Heidelberg Catechism #60) Pastor: How are you righteous before God?
Congregation: Only by true faith in Jesus Christ. Although my conscience accuses me that I have grievously sinned against all God’s commandments, have never kept any of them, and I am still inclined to all evil, yet God, without any merit of my own, out of mere grace, imputes to me the perfect satisfaction, righteousness, and holiness of Christ. He grants these to me as if I had never had nor committed any sin, and as if I myself had accomplished all the obedience which Christ has rendered for me, if only I accept this gift with a believing heart.
Offertory Prayer
‡The Hymn No. 501 - “Just As I Am, without One Plea”
Just as I am, without one plea but that Thy blood was shed for me,
And that Thou bid'st me come to Thee, O Lamb of God, I come.
Just as I am, and waiting not to rid my soul of one dark blot,
to Thee, whose blood can cleanse each spot, O Lamb of God, I come.
Just as I am, though tossed about with many a conflict, many a doubt,
Fightings and fears within, without, O Lamb of God, I come.
Just as I am, Thy love unknown has broken ev’ry barrier down;
Now, to be Thine, yea, Thine alone, O Lamb of God I come.
Children dismissed for Little Worship at this time (K4 – K5)
Reading of the Holy Scripture: Luke 13:10-17 10 Now he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. 11 And behold, there was a woman who had had a disabling spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not fully straighten herself. 12 When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said to her, “Woman, you are freed from your disability.” 13 And he laid his hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and she glorified God. 14 But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the people, “There are six days in which work ought to be done. Come on those days and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day.” 15 Then the Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger and lead it away to water it? 16 And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day?” 17 As he said these things, all his adversaries were put to shame, and all the people rejoiced at all the glorious things that were done by him.

‡The Hymn - “All the Poor and Powerless”
All the poor and powerless, and all the lost and lonely,
All the thieves will come confess and know that You are holy,
And know that You are holy.
And all will sing out, Hallelujah!
And we will cry out, Hallelujah!
All the hearts who are content, and all who feel unworthy,
And all who hurt with nothing left will know that You are holy.
And all will sing out Hallelujah!
And we will cry out, Hallelujah! (sing twice)
Shout it. Go on scream it from the mountains,
Go on and tell it to the masses that He is God. (sing twice)
We will sing out, Hallelujah! And we will cry out Hallelujah! (sing twice)
