Green Partners environmental education grant update
We just wrapped up our first month of reuse education at Roosevelt and Brooklyn Center high schools! Our first sessions were focused on defining reuse and its history. Students learned about the impacts of fast fashion, repair, and upcycling with Rethink Tailoring. They were also joined by Old School to learn how a thrift store is run and why quality goods are important.
metal tins with sewing and needles inserted in green felt, embroidery floss and fabric rolld into the container of the tin
Each student got to practice mending, and left with the mending kits we put together with Rethink Tailoring. Want to make your own mending kit? Watch the video or read the tutorial to learn how! Funding for this project was provided by Hennepin County through the Green Partners environmental education program.
