2023 Texas ArcGIS Online Map Competition for Students

Across the U.S., high school (grades 9-12) and middle school (grades 4-8) students are exploring their world and creating interesting map products using ArcGIS Online. We hope that you will consider having your wonderful students participating this spring.

Participation is FREE!!

• The Challenge: Take Action! Identify an issue in your state to investigate –gather data, construct a map and StoryMap using ArcGIS Online, inform the public, and seek solutions to take informed action!

• Who: High School and Middle School Student Teams (1-2 students)

• How: Teachers will facilitate teams to work on a project. Students create a map using ArcGIS Online to illustrate data about an issue. The problem, data, and possible solutions will be explained using a ESRI StoryMap. Schools may have multiple teams.

• You Are Not Alone! Upon request, teachers and students will have access to virtual mentors who will answer questions about constructing investigations, creating maps, and building a StoryMap. This is a first-come, first-served opportunity! Send requests and questions to txmapcontest@gmail.com.

Prizes:

• State AND National Recognition for students, teachers, and school!

• $100 awarded to the top five middle AND top five high school teams!

2023 Dates to Keep in Mind:

• Registration: Open from January 23 - March 24

• StoryMap Submission Deadline: April 21

• Winners Announced: May 15 (State); May 30 (National)
