Transfiguration Sunday

10:30 am

In-Person or Online? Here's all the info you need.
Transfiguration
Ivanka Demchuk
Ivanka Demchuk is a Ukranian artist based in Lviv. You can see her art and find our more about her at en.ivankademchuk.com.
In-Person in Our Sanctuary
75 Geddes St, Elora
(corner of Church & Geddes)
We strongly recommend that people wear masks when we're together in our building. Mask wearing is a simple and effective way to care for each other. Especially the most-vulnerable among us. Some will also choose to keep a physical distance from others. We leave it to each person to make the best decisions for themselves and their families.
Online from Your Home

We're broadcasting our worship services live through YouTube. You can join on your computer, tablet, or smartphone. You  don't need to have an account, or even to sign in.

Just click the button below and you'll be able to join in. (We begin broadcasting about 5 minutes before the service begins.)

Join the Worship Broadcast
This takes you to our YouTube channel. You can see current, upcoming, and past livestreams (worship broadcasts). You can also see videos of previous worship services.
If the broadcast interrupts part-way through, we suggest waiting a few minutes. Then try joining the worship again the way you normally do.
This week: God's Grace Beyond Forever

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
the sun forbear to shine;
but God, who called me here below,
will be forever mine.
Our first Scripture this week tells of Jesus' Transfiguration: Matthew 17.1-8. We'll also hear a passage that inspired the last verse of Amazing Grace: 2nd Peter 3.8-15a.

This is the end of our dive into John Newton's most-famous song, Amazing Grace. If you want to find our more, here a couple of helpful resources:
  • Most of my information about Newton's life came from a book by Steve Turner, Amazing Grace: The Story of America's Most Beloved Song. Turner is a music journalist, biographer, and poet, who grew up in Northamptonshire, England. It is well-researched and written, and quite an enjoyable read.
  • The town of Olney is home to the Cowper & Newton Museum. It's dedicated to both Newton and his close friend and fellow hymnwriter William Cowper. Cowper's story is fascinating too. The museum's website has plenty of special material for the 250th Anniversary celebrations.
