Dear Friends,

Good morning, and happy Saturday. We have a lot to report from Annapolis this week!
LEGISLATIVE UPDATES
You can track all of my legislation here

✔️Our Indecent Exposure bill (HB212) got voted out of the Judiciary Committee this week and will be making its way to the House Floor.

✔️We presented HB447 alongside Willie Flowers, president of the Maryland State Conference of the NAACP and Julie Randall, former County Commissioner President and Chair of the St. Mary’s County Democratic Central Committee. Many people from around the state testified favorably on the bill. The bill is very simple: for counties with a commission form of government, commissioners who represent districts should be elected by those districts, rather than at-large. The hearing is here:

✔️We presented HB165 this week, as well. This bill would stop the clocks and keep daylight savings time year round. The bill has a built in contingency on the enactment of similar legislation in our bordering states and the District of Columbia. Without the legislation, there is potential that we could be on a different time than a neighboring state.

✔️Yesterday, I was happy to chair the opening of the ECM hearing on HB556 (cannabis) so that Chair Wilson could testify on the bill. We are very grateful to all those who came out to testify or testified online. We are working hard to have the best implementation we can, and input from citizens and stakeholders is invaluable in that process. The hearing is here, if you'd like to watch:
