TONIGHT'S SPEAKER:

Ewan Hunter

From  Scotland to South Carolina, Artist, Maker and Performer
"I will be talking about my arts education in Scotland and thirty-five years as a professional artist working in large scale outdoor events, contemporary art and theatre, both as a maker and as a performer. From towering bonfires on the Esplanade of Stirling Castle to Viking Longships sweeping through the streets of Danish cities, I will mainly be speaking about my work as an artist and designer, covering time in Glasgow, Scotland and in Liverpool with the extraordinary “Lantern Company”, finally touching on my time here in Aiken where I have found some peace to make quieter and more contemplative work."

THE AIKEN ARTIST GUILD GALLERY

AT THE AIKEN CENTER FOR THE ARTS

Carolyn Bohn's Studio and Atelier

The award winning artist Carolyn Bohn and members of her studio will be showing their art at the Aiken Artist Guild Gallery from February 16 to March 23.  A reception will be held from 6:30-8:00 on February 16.

The show will consist largely of pastels.  The range of subjects will demonstrate diversity and the capacity of a group of individual artists to thrive in a supportive environment.  The artists who will be showing with Carolyn include Brian Anderson, Carolyn Bohn, Lucy Bureau, Barbara Dick, Beth Everett, Anne Hunter, Lise Obelenus, Laurie Neely, Linda Purdy and Price Story.

Carolyn's dream was to create a place where artists would have personal studio space along with community space where artists could create, learn, grow, inspire and provide mutual support. She considers her Studio & Atelier a dream come true. One of her pieces is shown below:

The Elite Hearing Center Window Front Display

Hilliard Krecker will be displaying his dramatic oil paintings in the front window of the Elite Hearing Centers location next to Publix through February 28.  His artistic philosophy is best described in his own words: “An oil painting should portray the feeling, the emotion, that comes from a scene. At its best it should give you that hauntingly familiar feeling along with a bit of those not yet felt”.
