COMMISSION/COMMITTEES:

Hebron Health and Safety

We have worked 23 days without a work-related injury or accident.

FIRE DEPARTMENT

Please slow down and move over!

In 2022 fifty public safety and roadway workers were struck and killed by motor vehicles while working at emergency scenes or construction zones. Just two weeks ago both a Firefighter and State Trooper were struck and injured at an accident scene in Cromwell. When approaching these scenes, please slow down, move over one lane if possible, and focus… All too often there are close calls at these scenes attributed to excessive speed and distracted driving. Please help us ensure that all of our personnel make it home safe.

We also need your help in finding you in the event of an emergency! If you don’t already have one, please consider purchasing a reflective house number sign from us. We’ll even help you install it!

As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out, we’re here for you.

Peter

Chief Peter J. Starkel

This week the Hebron Fire Department responded to 12 EMS, 2 lift assists, 1 fire alarm and 1 mutual aid fire assist.

PLANNING DEPARTMENT

Following a recommendation from the Hebron Economic Development Commission, the Board of Selectmen authorized a tax abatement agreement under the Hebron Economic Development Incentive Program for a project proposed by L&J Properties LLC. The proposed project consists of an approximately 2600 square foot post and beam mixed-use building to be erected at 16 Main Street. The new building will complement the renovation of the historic Gale House and associated garage at 14 Main Street, presently the home of the Flour Girl Bakery. The new building will complete the distinctive streetscape on the Hebron Green in the National Register Historic District.

PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT

This week the Public Works Department removed litter from the roadways.  Wood debris was  picked up on Hope Valley Road, Grayville Road, and throughout town. Preventative maintenance, washing and greasing was conducted on the new roll-off truck. Tree trimming took place on West Street, Hebron Elementary School north parking lot area, and Fire House Company # 2. Roads were hot patched on the streets on the Southern side of town.

SENIOR CENTER

TOWN CLERK'S OFFICE

The Town Clerk’s office is well known to be the town’s records manager. Historical documents of significance are housed in temperature and humidity controlled vaults on the Town Office Building campus as well as off-site in safe repositories in digital format and on film. The process of maintaining, preserving, and archiving the records of the town is a costly and time-consuming process that is ongoing.

Hebron’s Town Clerks have historically done a commendable job of preserving the history of the town throughout the centuries. Many of the records in our repository, dating back to the 17th century, are available for onsite review by those conducting historical or genealogical research.

As we progress into the future, we continue to advance the preservation of and the public’s ease of access to public information.  The complete collection of land records, dating back to 1713, as well as all filed maps, can be accessed via the internet through our online land records database.

Also available online are the Code of the Town of Hebron, town ordinances and meeting minutes of our many Boards and Commissions. These records are available in a searchable format and can be accessed through our town website.

We invite you to take advantage of the information that is available online and to visit the Town Clerk’s office if we can assist you with research.
